What happenned to pride and refinement? MIA!!!

Refinement! Where did we drop the ball? AND when do we pick it back up???

I think one of the reasons that imports have fared so well in the US, is that the refinement process that they have been allowed to put their cars through. The Import brands have years and years to "make it right" instead of making it look better every year after year. The Japanese brands like Toyota, Honda, Nissan etc, have only to work at getting things right....down to the torque on every bolt (although that has begun to suffer of late as well as the Koreans brands. lately. Intereswting, but Hyundayi and Kia are building autos with much better detailing than thay had the years prior (seemingly st the expense of the hides of the Japanese auto makers rear ends! Toyota in particular has suffered from large recals from 2006 thru today's) I think a difference from their experience has gone towards "tightening" things up as they have grown, since many of their parts are mad in the states by North Americans these days. The circle continues to get tighter and tighter, and if they don't drop the ball next year or 2, they will have built a better vehicle, not just a better looking vehicke! It is embarassaring to say this but it has been a long time since my last new car/truck, was American built. Today, We concentrate on making it cheaper, not better instaed of refining what we already have gotten down so well.

A GREAT EXAMPLE WAS TO BE HAD WITH THE AUTOMOBILE WAX...ZYMOL. USED TO BE GREAT STUFF, THEN WE GOT THE LICENSING RIGHTS TO MAKE IT HERE (THE NICE SMELLING BLUE CONTENTS BOTTLE) I THINK the NAME lICENSING WAS GOTTEN BY TURTLE WAX IN THE STATES. wHAT IS INTERESTING HER IS THAT THE BOTTLE CLEARLY STATES "SAME ORIGINAL CONTENTS"!
Inj all fairness, American brands have begun to "turn the corner" in the way of quality. Americans are accused only to often of building junk anf not refining what has already been screwed up! (Instead of making it better the next time round! Same can be said of german brands too and forget about the French completely!. If only we would learn the 1st time around and not spend years learning on went wrong and how to built it cheaper! Also being made to suffer have been Sweedish, English, and Italians. Errrr, The English have never known how how to build the electrical systems of a car! (A La Lucas!!!!!....Now we go even worse....To FORD from who knows where!....KEEP tightening things up,and then????? (NO ethnic slurs meant here!)

Here is a good example ....I washing my car and I have the plastic mud guards on it ...while washing my car I saw one of the bolt/screws that holds the mud guards was screwed on half way..... This bolt/screw is also used to hold the wheel well on.

I too have been on site trying to see if the '09 FSTB will fit on my wifes 2 week old '08 CE! Too bad handling does not go hand in hand with good gas mileage!

Good stuff. Looks like the 2008 Altis is about the same as our 09 Rollas. You can also try a Google search for Tom's Strut Tower Bar(and others) for the 2008 Altis to find more strut info.

My local Toy dealership wud not provide info if the '09 FSTB was a straight install into the '08 Rolla. Few hours on the web yielded a Vibrant brand fitment up to '08. I could not find a USA dealer for Tom's FSTB to compare prices!
