USA No Power Locks?

I have owned my 09 corolla-standard model- for one week. I traded in my echo 01 manual, for it. The echo had power locks with crank windows so I assumed the 09 corolla would, and I didn't check. I got home and tried to lock the car and found out. I am so disheartened. This is the first new car I have ever owned and not having the power door locks is like a slow torture.
I miss my echo, and am thinking of trading this car in already.
Does anyone have advice for me?
Thanks so much.

Standard Power Door locks...

Thanks. I called all the dealers in my area and none will install them. I then called after market places. One guy will do it. Another guy says the cables are too weak to support power locks in the 09 doors and whatever is installed won't last 6 months- he said don't waste the money or time on it.
I talked to the salesman. He said that any upgrade would cost me about 3 or 4 thousand at this point to trade in. It has 300 miles on it.
Should I push for the trade in?
Thanks.

Hey I also had a similar experience regarding that matter..I had a standard corolla with just literally the basic..crank windows and manual locks..the crank windows is not too much of an issue to me but the manual locks?! ugh..i find it hard to reach the back door in case i would be having some passengers..and being used to power locks, I will be at risk to forget to lock my doors..I was happy cause i got the blue color anyway and I was contented since most of the time i will be riding the car myself anyways..but my buying experience wasn't so good so I became honest when they were asking for my feedback and the survey. The manager contacted me and we discussed things out..My dealer offered me a swap of cars because of the buying experience and the not so good feedback that I expressed to them.he then offered me that he is willing to swap my car and upgrade to an LE. Unfortunately the Blue LE that he was offering me was already sold so he offered me a silver LE with just like 300 bucks above the OTD price of my standard Corolla and just an additional of 7 bucks in my monthly coz of the 300 difference (i paid the standard rolla with sticker price 17,598 the dealer offered me the LE with the price of 17,957 [i believe] which was originally 18,508 @ sticker). Gave me like a day to think. Was hesitant at first because I really loved the color blue rolla and consulted to ToyotaNation. Finally I gave in to the offer. I had 123 miles on the standard when i got it swapped. I bought the standard with 91 miles on it so i just had like 32 miles used. I got the silver LE with just 12 miles on it. Check my thread if you want to know more about what happened with the swapping.

If you can't live with the manual locks..Ask your agent if he could at least cut a few hundred bucks off with an upgrade. Or choose the upgrade that has the least dealer installed options that would not be necessary for you. I suggest find an LE with just power locks and power windows installed and nothing else..or at least with the overpriced floor mats and ask if they could take it out if you dont want it..the mats are kinda overpriced anyway..or ask if you could order instead?

If you can afford the extra bucks on an upgrade then it's all good..but i think u should do the above steps first..hope i helped!sorry for the long and winding post..

that's great..hope something would workout..it's your money so your satisfaction should be put first by the dealer/agents (or at least that's what they said to me). i don't know what they were up to when they do say that though..i am highly suspicious..hehe..let us know what happens if you may..

i know this is an old thread. i am picking up a base model (wanted 5 speed-didnt want to pay for s model) tomorrow. i can live w/o the power windows, but want the locks. i found 2 different places in Grand Rapids, MI that have done quite a few 09 corollas (adding power locks). $240 for all 4 doors, but everything is controlled from the actual manual lock on the drivers door. so, when approaching the car, you'd still have to use a key. didn't make sense to do that. for $340, they will do a simple keyless entry for all 4 doors. downside is if you need to lock from inside, you have to use your fob. anyway , this seems the sensible route for me. they've done about 20 '09 corollas this year with no problems yet. they use spal usa for their parts.

so, it appears in capable hands, this should be an option for any of you base model owners. they've done some power windows as well, but more labor intensive and over $600.
