Maintenece Req Light

I have a 2009 Corolla XRS with 4500 miles on and I have just noticed that after starting the car up the maintenence required light flashes after starting for I would say 10 seconds. I am not sure if this has always happened or not. Does this mean I should go get it checked or is that the normal time for this light to flash and I am just noticing it now

take your corolla to your dealer and let them figure out what to do. but dont forget to ask them specifically on the cause of the flashing maintenance light.

Every 5k miles, the light will come on. At around 500 miles prior to 5k interval, the light will start to blink a few times on start-up and then goes away. As you get near 5k interval, the light will flash longer and will stay on as you near 5k interval.

PERFECTLY NORMAL. It's a reminder. Once you get your oil changed, the dealer resets it. If you do it yourself (or go to independent shop), then you need to ask your dealer/service person on how to reset it yourself manually. I am sure someone on here knows how to do it...but don't worry, your engine won't blow up anytime soon...it's not a Ford ya know!

If you go somewhere other than Toyo (or do it yourself) for an oil change, do the following. Reset it using the following toggle the odometer over to read ODO, turning the car off, and then holding down the trip reset button while starting the car, keep holding for 5 seconds, you'll see 5 bars which eventually turn to 00000s. Once that happens you can turn off and then fully start your car. This will reset the Maint Reqd light.

my XRS did the same. It stays solid once you hit 5,000 mi. I haven't had time to go to the dealer, or just waiting for my buddy so he can do it for me (so he gets paid).
