'09 Corolla vs. Civic...road/wind noise

Hey all,

Just a quick question...for those who have driven both of the mentioned vehicles ('09 Corolla vs. '08 Civic), which is quieter on the road?? Which is more comfy??

Thanks in advance...i have not had much time to testdrive both.

Corolla is softer sprung and has more padded seating. Civic is faster, quicker handling but has a little more road noise on the highway. The Civic is more fun in 5 speed config on curvy roads. The only Corollas I've driven were automatics (rental cars) but a little more like small buicks than the Hondas.

Depends on what you want to do I guess. Both are excellent cars.

i've test driven the 08 civic ex coupe and the 09 corolla xrs. between those two i definitely prefer the corolla xrs more...the ride is smoother and A LOT quieter than the civic...but i think that's due to the corolla's laminated acoustic windshield or whatever. the corolla was smoother than the civic too...civic has a stiffer ride with more road noise. both seem to handle well but the corolla had more power. if you're asking about the non xrs corolla then i'm sure that one will have an even more smoother ride...but slower lol

corolla is quieter and smoother. Civics have a cooler interior. But if you go for XRS it is better than than the Civics.

corollas cost $400-500 less per year to insure, and don't get stolen as often as civics by far, since young people focus on them much more then the corollas, plus they can be purchased japanese made. Corolla FTW

Both great cars though.

Good point on the insurance. We had an 04 Civic EX coupe and it cost more to insure than my truck (which cost tons more) to insure. As far as where it's made... the difference really isn't there any more. The Ohio Hondas are holding up every bit as well as anything from over there.

Even so, I did like the fact that my new xB was made in the Toyota homeland.

Keep in mind that tire compounds and size also make a world of difference with road NVH

Very true. I replaced the crappy OEM Goodyears on my 09 xB and road noise dropped by about 30%. I even went to 17s instead of 16s.

Happy Happy Happy

My friend has an 08 Civic. I like my Corolla better, but the one thing I do find neat about his is some of the dashboard is up front by the window. You can see your MPG and gas without even looking down.
