2009 Corolla S being built

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I just want to say first, thanks so much in helping me purchase my new 2009 Corolla S. I went back and forth with the dealer for a few weeks but got him down to 21,041 (off the lot). Not too bad from what I have seen around different forums. Anyways, thanks everyone!.

Next, I have a few questions. The Corolla that I wanted required the inventory manager to find a specific Corolla being built with the same specifications that could be transferred to his dealership. Anyways, when negotiating, the dealer found one but it was in Maryland, about 2 hours away. The dealer told me that the inventory manager would arrange the delivery of this vehicle from MD once it was finished being built at Toyota and sent to the MD dealership. I put down a $500 deposit as an order request in good faith. Since then, a week has passed, and i hadn't heard anything, so I started calling the inventory manager to confirm that the vehicle was secured. It appears that it hasn't from e-mails that I have received from the dealer. Is there anywhere on the web that i could look up corollas being built now and where they are being sent to or is that strictly an internal Toyota database that they are pulling from. If so, does anyone work for Toyota that could possibly look it up for me. I am getting nervous that they are slacking but I am trying to stay on them to keep them moving.

thanks for any help in advance,

Patrick

My experience showed that the dealer didn't get any visibility until it was shipped from the Toyo DC to their dealership (at this point they get a VIN.) From the time they get the VIN to the time it arrived was 2 days. So You may not hear anything back in your situation as soon as you'd like... i.e. the Maryland dealer has to get the car, then transfer it?

Not sure this will be helpful, but I thought I'd post my knowledge of the process just in case!

have patience and dont rush things. when you take things nice and slow they always most of the times turn out good. regarding the $500 that you put in as a deposit as long as you signed something stating that you have deposited such amount for a car reservation there is nothing to worry about. it really takes time for these cars to be built. here in vancouver canada the waiting time for 09 corolla orders takes 3-4 months. unless of course you want to settle for a car configuration and color that you never wanted.

I ordered a Corolla S from my dealer on July 9th. I was suprised when he called me a week later and told me he had a build date of August 11th and expect delivery a week later. I was expecting a 2 to 3 month wait.

Ya you will get the car you ordered... However, there may be an extra wait. Anytime you order specific features on a car there is going to be a wait. Even if there is a dealer in some other city that has that car. They have to verify that it has the EXACT features you ordered. On top of that, if there is something missing, then they have to order the parts in / build a new car to your order exactly. I'd call your dealer to find out for sure. Deposits just mean that when the car arrives on the lot they normally put a "Sold" sign in the window so it isn't taken for test drives by other buyers.

So deposit or no deposit you will get what you ordered.
