I was a little disappointed by the flimsy material that comprises the floor of the trunk. Its almost like a corrugated plastic posterboard material. Anyway, I wanted to know the thickness of the trunk liner and about fit and finish details before I buy.
The link gave me a "backtracking error" and I can't find my way there on the site.
But if it is the OEM carpeted liner, I really like it. I've got a carpeted cargo liner, and it says either "Toyota" or "Corolla" across the center in white, and is color matched to the rest of the trunk.
Descrp.: Protection for a long-lasting cargo area. This durable, long-lasting custom designed vinyl liner features a raised lip to contain spills for simple cleanup. Textured finish minimizes load shifting and the cargo area carpeting gets extra protection for wear and tear. The easy-to-install liner is equally simple to remove for cleaning. It’s the ideal place for storing wet and dirty cargo. Consider it the ultimate way to protect the vehicle interior from scratches and spills.
I was advised against it by my dealer..... Said it wouldn't let the trunk floor breath and would promote rusting.... Don't know if there's any truth to that statement since I never got it....
Rust due to not being able to breathe? Interesting, I never heard of that one before. You would think that if it fit tight enough to not let the moisture out, it would also not let it in, I guess it is possible though.
Could I get a link to the carpet liner to give it a look? Do you have any rust issues?

rust would only set in if your cargo area is always getting wet and not having enough time to dry out.
I inquired at the service counter and they said the same thing as far as rust goes (rust would only set in if your cargo area is always getting wet and not having enough time to dry out.)
What would you guys in the US be paying for this? In Canada they want $120. I took a look on the US website but couldn't drill down enough to get a price. Could someone US inquire about the cost. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
I have the OEM trunk liner in my 09 Corolla. I also have floor and trunk liners in my 2005 Highlander with no issues of moisture or rust. The liners would prevent less moisture from getting to the carpet than not having them. I've never seen any kind of moisture forming between the liners and the floor.
It's a perfect fit. It was one of a few extras that was included with my purchase in order to finalize the deal. I'm pretty sure that the OEM liners are made by http://www.weathertechcanada.com/sto...=642&Year=2009. As you can see, the OEM price is a bit lower that theirs.
I have one in our car, and love it. Climbing gear gets heaped into the trunk and when I get home, I just take the liner out and wash it. The carpet is kept like new.
Not regarding the "trunk liner" but more about the trunk floor panel (didn't want to start a new thread just for that)...
On my 6, there's a hard plastic cover over the spare, which makes the trunk floor even and the floor carpet goes over that, which makes the floor quite sturdy...
I've noticed that in my XRS, there's no use for such cover as the carpet has an actual cardboard backing which makes the floor cave in easily especially on the right side of the trunk due to that side not being supported by the spare (just have to apply a bit of pressure and you'll notice it)....
All this to get to the following question.... As a result of carying anything with a little bit of weight (such as groceries), overtime (not sure if previous generations were the same) do you guys notice any warping of the floor.... Seems to me it would have to.
I guess the intent of my question about the cargo liner was 2 fold as I wanted to add some sort of strength to the trunk cargo floor as well as some protection, as I too am worried about the filmsy nature of this corrugated plastic panel.
SO, to all the cargo liner owners out there, did it strengthen the floor at all?
If not, I will have to get some thin wood like those found in traditional trunk cargo floors and put it under the cheasy cardboard one to re-inforce it.
I am actually surprised Toyota did this as it is a pretty wimpy piece and doesn't go with the other elements of the car in terms of quality. More like something you'd expect from Kia or something.
MY 05 XRS had the same corrugated plastic-board and never sagged once. Carried my tires in the many times. It's much better than the cardboard/chip-board that my old Civic used to have.
