All Toyotas with smart key still have a key hole in the driver's door, so you can open the car if the battery goes dead. It's even an inverted cut Lexus-style key. Not having a way into the car would be wack.

The base model without keyless entry has a key hole in both front doors.

Any models with keyless entry do not have one in the passenger door.

Look at most cars on the road today, you'll find almost all cars only have one lock cylinder now. This is not something new, and it's not something Toyota is just doing on the Corolla to cut costs, all cars are getting this treatment, including Lexus.

There are multiple sensors that are close range. You need to have the key inside the car, to be able to start it. Standing outside the car won't cut it.
