I got a 2009 Corolla XRS and have been driving it for around 5 months now. Truth be told, I really don't like the car and regret having gotten it in the first place. I'm not sure what to do about it. I'm not willing to lose too much on it, so the most practical thing to do would probably be to drive it for 3 years until the warranty ends, then trade it in. Of course, I don't want to wait that long, but I don't see any other option.

That's kinda ironic. What makes you backout from that car dude? Was it just a standard corolla for you? I'm just wondering.. really..

What exactly made you change your heart..Did you find something much better on another car?
I also hate my car, but for a different reason..it reminded me of my worst buying experience..
Maybe if you don't want to wait..you could sell it to someone who is interested near your place or here at TN?
How about you sell it online?
I have this feeling of hating myself because I felt that I threw my money away for something I really didn't want at all.. I mean..for me the corolla's real nice..but i didn't get exactly what I wanted because I was rushed and harrassed to buy it at that moment..still having that feeling all the time..

5 speed, and it does have sunroof. The reason I'm starting to dislike it is because 1) Way too much body roll 2) It's worse on gas than I anticipated, and 3) I'm finally starting to realize how overpriced it was. I should've just gone and gotten myself a Civic Si with the money.

Wow, I feel exactly the same right now, although I don't have the car yet (but paid deposit).. I feel like I went "cheap" and took the Corolla over two cars that I want MUCH more but cost ~$8k more. A lot of money, I guess, yes, but nothing I can't afford. Now I'm reading reviews of the XRS and how it's NOT fun to drive (being fun to drive is exactly what I AM looking for in a car) and it makes me feel like an idiot.. almost want to give up my $1000 deposit to go with what I really want. And I don't even have the freakin' car yet.

Did you special order the car? Or did you pay the $1,000 to hold a car that is on its way? If its the latter, you should be able to get your deposit back. Thats what my salesman told me, and I've heard it from a few other people. Check with your dealership to see what their policy is. You should buy a car that you're going to like. You ARE afterall spending a BIG chunk of change...

i know what you mean...that's why i am going with pontiac...the 09 pontiac vibe gt...$21k fully loaded...same engine as the rolla xrs and has a longer warranty and handles a lot better than the xrs that i test drove...no body roll (maybe something to do with not having a torsion beam rear?). but yah i did feel the corolla is over priced.

i think the not so fun to drive part might be due to the suspension design...honestly i've test drove the corolla xrs (torsion beam rear) and the 09 vibe gt (independent rear suspension) and the vibe has a more sporty drive...a lot more fun when driving taking turns. the corolla had more body roll...i was kinda surprised how much it rolled when i turned and i wasn't even going too fast.
that's one reason it's taken me almost 2 years now to decide what car to get...finally decided lol especially for new cars, it's always good to wait a bit, read some reviews to get a better idea...i think i've test drove the corolla xrs like 3 times already and the vibe four times lol but yah can't rush into buying a car =/
There are plenty of options available to resolve the body roll issue. Front and rear sway bars which are relatively inexpensive and will make a nice difference. For example my MINI Cooper S came with a 19mm sway bar as standard equipment to help with body roll....I upgraded to a 22mm and there was noticeable difference.

are you aware that the car body of the vibe is the older matrix body? imagine a hand me down engine which is a 2.4L engine of the xrs corolla and the body of a matrix?

i am fully aware of the vibe and matrix sharing the same engine and other stuffs...that combination worked out perfectly for me...the reliability of a toyota in a better looking body (compared to the matrix which i think is ugly) plus a better warranty and cheaper price. and the more fun to drive of the vibe gt won me over the corolla xrs. no offense to toyota i mean i love them and i thank them for sharing their engine with pontiac but i think some toyotas are overpriced. before i would never even think of getting an american car, but because i know it's a toyota at heart it'll be worth it this time...i don't really care for the resale thing...i'm keeping the car for a long time
