Well ive been fighting the dealer for a few weeks over my 09 Corolla. I requested factory keyless entry on it when i bought it and they give me a aftermarket knock off thats already doesnt work. They assured me they would fix the aftermarket until the factory starts making the accessories and they would install the factory keyless entry. Can this be done since it replaces the key or not????

Just Canada. Down here, only the XLE trim level has it standard.
yup. technically only the XLE has the keyless standard. Practically all the LEs, Ss, and XRSs i've seen have been equipped with the option (TOYOTA LA REGION). If you are getting the base Corolla, I don't think it's even available as a factory option, nor accessory? The way to get it factory would be to do a PIO install of the factory Toyota VIP RS3200 alarm, and you may get the remote.
I have the smart key
I'm still having to get use to it and I have the car since June 1. 3 months now.
I have on numerous occasions forgot to press the black button on the door handle to lock the car. Lately I use the FOB to lock the car instead. Also theres the fear that the FOB battery will go flat and I cannot start the car.(I know the manual have a way for such eventuality. That's if I remember. ) If this was a option I'd have selected the normal keyless instead of smart key. At least there will be a keyhole on the steering column. With smart key there's none.
No just the regular keyless that replaces the key. I called corporate and asked how long it would be before the accessory parts come out and they stated they have been out. So this dealer is just giving me the run around.

They are not out. Sometimes corp does not know. In the US if your Corolla did not come with factory key less entry the dealer can ONLY add a aftermarket one. The dealer should have told you that instead of just installing a aftermarket one.

What do you mean they can only install a aftermarket one. They cant get the parts to install this after you buy the vehicle? If thats the case wouldnt corporate or the dealership tell me this?
You would hope so, but there is no kit available to make the car have in-key keyless entry after you buy the car. It either comes that way from the factory or you have to live with a separate fob.
This is amazing to me because i just called 4 other dealerships in the area and asked them if i could get FACTORY keyless installed in my corolla LE which has power door locks and they all stated that there is a kit available.Where are you guys getting this info so i can print it off and show it to my dealership???

did you ask the 4 dealerships that you've talked to if "the kit" they were talking about is OEM or aftermarket kit with a separate FOB?
