Canada My 2 cents

I have an 07 Corolla CE SE & I have to say, I find it a much nicer vehicle to drive than my father-in-law's 09 Corolla. the 09 had much more engine & road noise & the ride was very rough. I'm glad I didn't jump at the 09 right away. This is the first run of the new design so there are bound to be some issues.. No doubt they'll get resolved over time...

i do notice the ride was stiffer than the previous gen...but maybe it's new shocks and stuff so it'll take some time to break in. i remember installing new shocks on my car and at first the ride was stiff then after a week or so it was smoother. but yah i was originally going to get a 09 corolla but it seems to have more issues than i liked for a new car...i'm sure it's only some cars but i don't want to take the risk of getting disappointed. but you say the 09 is more noisier? i find the 09 a lot more quieter than the previous gens which is one reason why i wanted this...but i think having a super quiet interior you will notice rattles more lol

My Corolla S broke in around 11,000 miles. The ride is softer, it coasts better, it takes corners much better and it is easier to keep straight at 60 MPH or better.

It took corners so badly that the front end would jump when taking a sharp corner.

I was going to bring it in and have them look at it but it is handling fine now.

rough ride

I posted a comment several weeks ago about how stiff the ride in my 2009 Corolla LE is and got nothing but comments about having the wrong tires. I'm glad somebody else is noticing how rough and bouncy the 2009 Corolla rides! I was frankly shocked. It rides great on very smooth roads, such as freeways. But boy, get it on a rough surface street! It rides like a truck. They really need to do something about it. I probably would have sprung for a Camry had I known.

I disagree completely. Comparing my 05 to the 09 and there is a significant drop in road noise and general road travel seems superior. Yes it may "feel" slower in the 0-100 range - but excels at highway speed - gives that "big car" feel of straightline exceleration.
