Hi guys, I rarely post, but I remember posting here before the 10th generation Corolla was out in the USA and reporting on my Australian one (Was out May 2007, my one was bought April 2007)
I have reached 24 000 kilometres for it, and have forgotten to do the second major service, so I have to get that done now. (major service interval 10 000 km)
So far, the car has been perfectly reliable, it has never broken down on me, as I'd expect for any new car, no transmission or any other problems otherwise.
However, there has been on some days some screech noise from the engine on startup. Is this the timing belt having moisture on it or something, someone mentioned this to me once. It happens once in a while, and the engine has no other issues or noises once running.
There are two other minor issues to report.
1. Passenger side (left side) piece of loose trim under the glovebox, near where the passenger puts his feet (if you've ever been there, you should feel this loose trim piece that can shift by you moving your feet upwards) has detached because passengers have probably shifted it too much. I removed it as it can't be seen anyway and may reattach it later
2. Temperature control switch (the rightmost one of the three) sometimes gets stuck at this certain section in the blue and refuses to go down below a certain point, but will automatically cure itself after a short period of time. I'll see what's the problem with this at the service.
Overall, very good however. How many kms have you done and what are your opinions so far?
and have 8.6L/100km on the car's monitor system... my own calculations have gone from 7.9 - 9.5 on a tank to tank basis... (it all depends on where I drove on that tank and HOW i drove.)
According to the trip computer, I get 9.2L/100km, or 25 mpg (US). According to Toyota US official figures, the city figure (I never go on highway) is 27 mpg, and the highway mpg 35.

How do you get 40 mpg?
I'm at 15000 miles and am getting 42 MPG. I put in a K&N air filter, use cruise control all the time, and it is all highway driving.
The trip computer is usually 2 miles over what your actual is.
Haven't had a single problem with the car. I did blow out my front door speakers, but that didn't surprise me.

Purchased third week in July but it didn't arrive from Japan at the dealership till August 8th. Have 1,959 miles (approximately 3,700km if my math is correct). No issues and getting between 42 and 44 calculated MPG - couldn't be happier with the fuel economy.
Got mine at the end of February, have 14,000kms on it so far. Only a couple minor issues, mostly related with people touching my car and not the car itself.

From Japan? Corolla is built at plants in either Ontario, Canada or Fremont, California for North America

Some Corollas in the US come from Japan. My car has a VIN that begins with J which is the country of origin code for Japan. It's an LE model. And the dealer told me it came from Japan.
Update: I had to go out to the garage to make sure I wasn't all wet and yes, the VIN begins with J and on the sticker on the frame of the drivers side door opening it clearly says "MADE IN JAPAN".
