My Corolla kiled its first Deer.

Well, I have'nt seen many threads about 10th gen corolla carnage, so I guess its only right for me to start.

On the way home around midnight, I hit a deer at about 50mph. I hit it right at the headlight on the passenger side.

The hood is slightly bent. The bumper is pulled under the car, the headlight is gone, the front quarter panel is ripped up.

I wanted to take some photos, but the only light was the moon on a country road.

For its class, I feel it faired OK. If I was in my truck I wouldn't have to get it towed, but I wonder what it would have done to a Yaris. The final reason I went with the Corolla was for the safety when it comes to deer, but I wasnt expecting it to pay off after only 12k miles.

Unhappy

2 days ago we hit a cat with the XRS. Poor little guy came running out of the bushes as we were doing about 80 or 90k.
Ripped the plastic cover (skid plate) from underneath the car and the bottom part of the bumper out. Then the cat ran away.

no large animals but i've been keeping a "bird tally" in my glove box. I am up to 9 birds.

4 windshield (One left the outline of itself from the powder/dust that came off the bird)
2 driver-side head light
1 driver-side fog light
2 Grill

9 Birds in 5 months isn't half bad eh? And no chips, or damage. Just some bird snot & a bunch of feathers.

Considering I have only hit ONE BIRD IN MY LIFE BEFORE THIS CAR.... I think I am hitting a lifetime of birds with my new shiny XRS

LOL I guess the birds think the car is pretty attractive too.

Yup, after hitting the cat there was a scraping sound until we came to a stop (sounded a bit like we were dragging the cat under the car).
When we got out and looked to our relief it was the plastic undercover that was dragging. Also the body molding (ground kit) was a bit loose or separated. the cat was no where to be found.
Another vehicle that was coming in the opposite direction and watched the incident, mentioned to us that the cat ran off across the road.
