I am looking to buy a 2009 corolla, when the estimator at the dealer was walking me out to the lot to evaluate my car for trade in he asked me if it was gold ( Honda Civic 2003 ). I said no it was silver. His response was. that if it was gold or beige he would have to give me $500 less as it was not a popular color. Silver seems to be very popular. Has anyone else heard that gold or beige cars get less at trade in time?
Absolutely! The more exotic the colour, the harder it will be to sell to a customer. Someone will want it- but it won't appeal to the majority (in fact it might turn someone off the sale). Case in point - try selling a yellow or smurf-blue Matrix to anyone (think that was the 2005 or 2006 model year). No on wanted those...and they will be hard to resell later.
This is why most cars on the road are silver (or some derivative thereof) or black.
a lot of people dont want exotic colors because they dont want to draw attention to their cars, there are wayyy too many car break-ins and vandalism cases to get a car that stands out lol if the car blends in there's a bigger chance the criminals walk past it...unless if it's a silver maybach of course lol
Gold/Beige/Champagne/Baby-Poo/Peanut - whatever you want to call them... they are not exotic colours.... just ugly ones....who wants to drive around in something that looks like it was painted with infant poo?
ROFL! I was just trying to be polite...but yeah my wife calls the new gold Matrix "baby vomit".
Lol - yea, the dealer asked me what I thought of the gold corolla after I bought my dark grey one and I said I can picture an 90 year old lady with both hands on the wheel, hair gone white, those wrap around, oversized sun glasses driving 35 in a 65 being the perfect type of person to take one of those home. He agreed and said it'll probably end up being the "special" corolla in a sales circular...

North American's are boring...
Bang On Man!
Anything you do to anything that narrows it's Potential Market is sort of like shooting yourself in the Wallet.
gold cars are ugly that is for sure. as are yellow cars. it always cracks me up to see some dude who thinks he's a macho man driving a yellow dodge. white cars FTW!
So if you add an aftermarket nav system and upgrade speakers/add sub/add amp.....will that somehow also devalue the trade-in value of the car since some people may not want the extra attention that an aftermarket nav system may bring. Or is this completely different
Also what warranty would I be voiding if I end up doing all of those things?
