VSC only comes with the 2.4L available with the XRS only.
Leather isn't a factory option but there are plenty of dealership aftermarket leather packages you can get. I know our dealership offers the aftermarket leather, its not bad, but not great. Will cost you a grand if you opt for it though.

yeh i know its only available with the 2.4L asa of now, so im just curious if it will be available for 1.8L soon.
How does the aftermarket leather stack up to the original tho ?
I wouldnt mind paying an extra 1000-1500 if Toyota can offer a "premium package" that can add on those 2 features for the LE trim. Just like the Civic EX-L.
I doubt they will ever offer the trac control and VSC option with the 1.8L engine. It just doesn't have enough torque to get the wheels spinning unless you try very hard. Not to say it cant be done in the rain or snow.
The aftermarket leather usually just wraps on top of the OEM fabric seats so it seems bulkier and the seat doesn't quite feel as spacious. But I agree, if they had offered a factory option, I probably would've taken it.
The best bet for you though would probably be to go down south into the States and see if one of their dealership will order the factory leather seats and matching parts for you. It will definitely cost you a fair bit of coin, maybe somewhere in the 3000 dollar range. Its the only way we'll be able to get OEM Factory Leather in our corollas as far as I know.

As far as leather goes i can still live without it if i really have to pay an unresonable amount of money, but my absolute bottomline is...IM NOT BUYING A VECHICLE WITHOUT ESP/VSC.
It's true wheels might not spin, but its the skidding im concerned about...black ice, slush etc.
I would probably look into getting a Matrix if that's the case then, the majority of models come with the 2.4L which have the VSC.
Or you can look into the XRS corolla which has it equipped.
But if you're looking for the smaller engine then you might be out of luck. VSC won't save you if you're in a dangerous skid despite what it advertises, only on minor skids will it make a huge difference, but even then, it wouldn't have been necessary if you had experience driving in those types of adverse conditions. My recommendation would probably be a good set of all seasons or snow tires and drive carefully, prudent speeds and just good judgment. Those skills will best any type of vehicle stability management anyday.
But that's just speculation about the VSC not coming on the 1.8L. You'd have to ask someone like Mr Lange for the definitive answer. I hope I was able to help.
I have a Corolla LE 1.8L that has vehicle stability and traction control - it's a $250 option in the US - not sure about Canada. I specifically wanted it as it has been commented on as the best safety feature added to a vehicle since the air bag.
VSC is only available on the XRS in Canada, as a standard feature, not an option. No other models are available with VSC.
Leather is only available on S and XRS models in the USA, no dice in Canada.
I've never seen any leather installed over top of the factory cloth. That's just a seat cover, if you get proper aftermarket leather, it will be installed onto the bare seat.

thats really sad to hear...maybe its time to consider importing one from the states....>.<

With gas prices today im not getting anything bigger than i really need...i drive it to work most of the time and a 2.4L will be too much. Getting a matrix will mean a bigger gas bill and car payments.
Hell i'd even go with a Yaris RS if it comes with VSC...
Jusy fyi i do have another x-trail at home so this car is sorta "secondary"...
I did read something in the paper about the government wanting to make VSC standard on all cars just because the technology has become so affordable and the benefits would outweigh any cost to the manufacturer.
If that moves along quick enough, you might be in luck.
Its just right now, unless you import one from the states, its just unfortunate we dont get the VSC option in our 1.8L
@Jeff
I was told the aftermarket leather kits were installed on top of the fabric but I could be wrong. It just feels like its been installed on top because the see just in general feels taller and less spacious. If you know what I mean? The one's Ive seen anyway. I was concerned this would have an adverse impact on the side airbags in the seats but was told otherwise. It was the biggest reason why I didn't go for an aftermarket leather option.

ure absolutely right about standardizing the VSC, but that doesnt happen until 2011/2012. If I buy in 2009 the car will be 3years old by then....lolz !!
