Questions about the Automatic Shifter

ok i just bought an 09 corolla S auto..

now on our cars there is L, 2, 3-D

i read that if you keep it on 2 drive it till about 3,500 rpms and then let the rpms go back down themselves(shift in 3rd if you get near 4k rms) that the engine will break in better ?)what i mean by this is that when u pump up the rpms and let them go back down for the first 1,000 miles the pistons work better and break in better, but i want to know if that will have a difference in how the car works..

what do you guys recommend ? does everyone just keep it on D just drive? or do you guys shift from 2nd to 3rd ? and it is worse for the car ? better ?
any advice would be appreciated !!

as far as i am concerned, instead of experimenting the way that you have said it, why not just take a long drive where you can accelerate in a much normal and gentle manner to attain high speeds and high rpms. whereever you read that is not a proven fact unless otherwise stated by the car manufacturer and printed on the manual.
