Paid for car, not delivered as promised

Hi guys/gals,
I just purchased an '09 Corolla on Saturday, however, the dealer didn't have it in stock and said that one was being delivered on Sunday, so I paid for the car in full (yeah... my mistake) and waited around until Sunday. On Sun I went to the dealer... no car delivered. They said it would be here on Monday... guaranteed. I work about 1.5 hours away from the dealer where i purchased the car, so I needed to take time off of work to pick up the car on Monday. I called the dealer as I was leaving work... no car yet!. Same thing happened on Tuesday! I am really upset because they already cashed the check I wrote for the car even though I don't have it yet.

I feel like I should be compensated for the hassle of leaving work early, etc. What's reasonable to ask for? (5k, 10k service vouchers?). Let me know! Thanks in advance.

Has the check cleared your bank yet? If not, stop pay asap.

Why would you pay full price and not take delivery? You have no leverage and you're at their mercy. Keep buggin' em now, that's all you can do. Get some free oil change vouchers or sumtin'.

I would stop the payment first then deal with the delivery.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I picked up the car last night and got a bunch of service vouchers. They were actually cool about it... but I learned a valuable lesson in all of this.

Glad it worked out for you. This situation could have been much worse if you would have made this purchase with Bill Heard Enterprises. This 14 dealer company closed its doors yesterday and has left owners with no documents, no loan payoffs if you traded, etc.
