Coolant Smell??

Anyone notice a coolant smell coming from under the hood of their "rollas? I have had a strong smell of it, seems to be coming from the front near the radiator, but I can find no leaks or anything. Checked hoses, radiator, water pump, radiator cap, etc. Anyone seen this one yet?

When I drove to Louisiana during the evac from hurricane Ike, I did notice a very strong smell coming from the hood of the car. I don't know what Coolant smells like, but if it smells anything like burning rubber then I think I had the same problem.

Coolant smells kinda sweet. Burnt rubber is more pungent. If your car is new, a new motor will smell funny until it "burns" off the "newness" smell. Burnt rubber could be a belt slipping, but they usually squeal if they are slipping bad enough to smell them burn.

Yeah I'm sure you're right. The car was less than a week old when I drove it to Louisiana on Sept 10. Smelled awful, like sewage almost. My Dad said that was usual but I've never had a new car before so I thought something was wrong. I hope your coolant problem isn't a leak. Good luck with that.

i have the same problem. my coolant smells awful !!

i stuck my head under the hood bc i thought i have been smelling something burning and it is the rubber tubes that the radiator fluid flows through..

i checked everywhere i have no leaks.

no idea why it smells tho............
