Getting the Toyota emblems off

I'm doing the black-out thing. I hadn't seen pics of what the T's look like off, so here you go.
The front one pries straight off. You have to be very careful, though (to avoid scratches) - I worked a piece of string behind it and pulled. It's held in with pins only, and the two pieces are held together with pins too.

The back one is just held on with emblem tape, but it's pretty tough to get it off because there are a couple of pins to hold it in position (handy for putting it back). I had to pry up an edge and get at it with a hobby knife - the dental floss and blowdrier method wasn't quite as easy as the Corolla badge b/c the pins were in the way of getting too deep. plus I didn't know exactly where they were till I got it off. Notice they're offset.

by looking at the pictures i see some bent studs/pins. am i right? so putting it back is not a good idea anymore? and how do you put them back just in case you take them off like you did?

no bent or broken pins. they're similar to any other interior pins, or the ones that hold on a grill or some other exterior plastic. they ARE plastic, so it can only be done a few times before you have to worry about breakage. (I took the grill off my old tacoma about 5 times before one of the pins broke). just be gentle.

Someone did it with the "Quick" method way. Not a bad method at all, risky though. I took my friend's off by detaching the inner grill off the car, so I would prevent any broken tabs. Good stuff though!

Maybe I'm missing it - and I don't mean any offense - but what's the point of this?

umm... no, I'm going to pop the pins back in the front one and put new emblem tape on the back one.

it's done, by the way, for anyone who gives a sh*t. i went for gloss black and it turned out pretty good. I'll prob put the pics up tomorrow in a new thread. I give up on this one.

am I in the wrong forum here? perhaps I should stick to gas mileage and oil changing tips?

Not the wrong forum, we are just waiting to see the results of your labor. There are only so many comments we can make about what no one has done yet.

You are a badge/debadge pioneer in this area, please post pics.
