Optitron Gauge Swap

Theres really only 2 things that I think the XRS has on the S that makes it stand out. One is the 17" wheels, and the second is the inclusion of the optitron gauges.

I don't have a disassembly guide in front of me so thats why I pose the question, would it be possible to swap the faceplates of the gauge cluster between the CE/S and the LE/XRS? It wasn't possible in the 9th generation I know since the odometer was connected to the gauge as one unit, I wonder if that has changed in the 10th gen.

Optitron Guage Swap

I to have a 09 Toy Corolla S and would like to know if it is possible to swap out the cheesy gauges for the ones in the LE and XRS model. I have asked a personal friend who actually works at the Toyota dealer I bought my car at and he is looking into it. Either someone on this forum comes up with and answer first or I will. Stay tuned.........

Its not blue. Its white. The promo materials give it a faint blue look to it but its not what it actually looks like.

you can change the color of the one you have....

I took the cluster out and was expecting to replace gel capped bulbs with LED's for a more attractive color (how I changed my camry's) and found that they are actually PLCC LED's soldered right to the board. Changing them would involve ordering new LEDs from http://www.oznium.com/plcc-2 and removing the glass, needles, and gauge face and actually using a soldering iron... a bit of a risk. I'm going to do it but i want to first figure out how much a new gauge cluster will be if i ruin mine. also, i will be figuring out how to change the radio, AUTO on the window switch, Climate, and steering wheel controls... i'll come back with pics when i finallydo it

Personally, I wouldn't swap out the whole instrument panel. Old racer's saying, "Run what you Brung"
Good luck

I'm glad that this is one mod I don't care about, I really like the stock orange color. It's easy to see in day & night.

Or you could swap your whole car for a 2010 S. My 2010 S has Optitron, standard equipment!
