What do these flaps do?

Must be a 'yota thing.......our Ponyota Vibe, Tundra and 'rolla have them. What is their purpose?

My understanding is that dekerman1 is actually correct. The idea being to help protect the disc brakes from road spray, etc.
Again, just my thought.

That's excess plastic from the molds over at Mattel where they make the car.

That hard rubber strip under the front end of the car is there to save your lower front end from getting scraped & rashed when you bottom out, hit dips, sidewalks, etc. It basically absorbs the impact so your front lower end doesn't get all muffed up. They're actually on a lot of cars & trucks now. Even on Corvettes. This will especially come in handy for all the lowered cars.

Don't think we're talking about the same thing.......did you see the pic I posted? If any of those 4 plastic flaps touches anything solid, it's history.

Maybe something to do with aerodynamics, divert air away from front tires.
