I'm very satisfied so far with the car. The only issue I have is my own fault (tinted windows are too dark), and I think the cops here will have a lot of fun giving me tickets whenever they can. Shame, as I just blew 400 bucks on those windows. Oh well, live and learn. At this point, I'm tempted to remove the films and maybe upgrade to a lighter tint in a few months.
Sure, I didn't know the laws there as you aren't allowed to tint your fronts at all here. I was just offereing the least expensive option. Do you know for a fact that yours are past the limit? Perhaps you could get a second opinion, the dark grey metallic color often make mine seem tinted and they aren't at all.

I can barely see through the car from the outside, so there's not much doubt it's illegal. The sample clearly wasn't as dark, but then again I was warned by my car dealer. Young and naive....
I'll get lighter tints on the front if I can. Hopefully it's not more than 150$. Although it might mess the car's looks with different tints all over the place. Argh! Let that be a lesson for future buyers, never trust samples.
I had my tints done. Just the rear 5 windows for C $200. By the guy that do for the dealers.
Why tint the front windows?
Do not blame the cops for giving you a ticket for tinting front winows. They have to see that you're not pointing a gun at them when they approach you.
i went with 20% tint on all back windows & 50% on the 2 front, so far no problems

the s and xrs has darker interior so tint (not tintS) will look darker. it's always good to have lighter tint on the front and darker on the back so there's a bit of contrast if you are worry about getting pulled over...but if a cop wants to pull you over for tint they'll pull you over...usually they don't pull people over just for tint so i won't be too worry...just drive normal and obey the law =D

Your car looks great and I bet it really helps in the summer.
I do not think I would get 1 mile away from my house before a cop got me for too much tint!
You know... I never thought that it might be the tint that keeps my car from getting so hot in mall parking lots. Mine's legal and you can barely notice it. Guess it works though...

Toyota Corolla LE (Black Sand Pearl) Mods coming soon...
I just find it hard to believe that a dealer would/could sell a new vehicle with illegal window tint. Sounds like a major liability issue to me. You have to know what your tint laws are and a light meter must be used to determine the tints % of light blockage. I doubt if it's illegal and a dark interior does make the tint look darker from the outside as previously stated.

To the guy who said stop blaming the cops, I would like to point out that I have only blamed myself so far in this thread, so take it easy.
And well, the car dealer warned me it could get me in trouble with the police, but I barely listened and took the darkest tint available (I think it was 6%, but I am not sure if this actually means something. Seems like there are no standards for tint grading, really.) Again, it looked just fine on the sample, and actually it does look fine whenever I look at it through 1 window, not 2 combined.
I have already scheduled a replacement of my front windows for next week. Should be around 200$ with taxes. Live and learn, I guess.
And to Jeune Turc, I am already planning on snow tires and steel rims. Money keeps pouring out of my pockets...
