Freeing a stuck Rolla?

Had our first blast of winter here today in London area and my 28km drive was pretty smooth, rolla is actually pretty good in the snow. I got stuck at a stop sign turning on to a highway and had to do the drive/reverse back and forth a few times before I was on my way. My question is this, How hard can you rev the engine and spin the wheels before transmission damage or other components are damaged? I was careful only to moderately rev it and only for a few seconds. This is something I will run into all winter. Is it okay to rev it and bit and rock it? Thanks.

Once the wheels a slipping, very little is being accomplished........try to keep the revs low to avoid excessive slippage.

Yes. Moving from D to R in a rapid succession with too little of a pause in between will do more damage than trying to spin free in either D/R. I would suggest not revving past 3000rpm in a getting unstuck situation.

just get out there with a good shovel and some sand and you'll be fine. no point trying to rev your way out and cause some damage or even harm if the car was to slip or slide.
