2009 Corolla S Fuel Range

Hey

When you guys got your 2009 Corolla S brand new, what was the fuel range?

I have had it a lil under 2 weeks, and it has about 300km on it.

The fuel range says 472km

is that what you guys have?

Should it be higher?? Or is it a part of the "break in" period

I varies to your foot input. you keep in the sub 6.0L/100km range and you should see above 700kms range on the display just after fillup. If you drive it hard, it will adjust that range down. You should be able to get above 800km on a tank if you drive it right. It goes up a bit after 5-6000kms.

what lean said, also you will see an improvement as the motor breaks in and gets some miles on it.

on my 08 LE 5 speed, i routinely get 40mpg on the highway with the cruise set at 65mph, granted it is a 5 speed but...

i had an 06 5 speed corolla, and the mileage was wonderful, but i actually have been getting better mpg on the exact same route with my 09 5 speed. this is surprising since the 09 is about 180 lbs heavier and revs a bit higher at cruising speeds.

My 09 5 speed S has 12k miles on it. I have gotten as much as 39 mpg and never less than 35mpg. From the first tank to my last tank it has been very consistent. And I floor the shit out of it all the time. I rarely shift at less than 3.5k rpms and do a lot of shifting over 5k rpms.

Seriously!?

I havent reved my engine that high yet, and i have not gone faster than 105 km/h on the high way

Just easing the engine in, but yeah, right now it says I am getting 7.8litres/100km.

And I want to increase that fuel range badly!!!

You have it in "D" I hope? Check your tires, they should be at least 32psi. Fluctuate speed from 80-100km/hr while on the highway. Are you buying name brand fuel? Check the oil make sure its all good.

Okay, I just filled the car up for a THIRD time since i got it, and the fuel range went from 472, to 604

BUT, my average is still at 7.8 litres/100km

WHEN will it go down to 7....or 6.5/km !??!

It sucks that my fuel consumption is still high, cause i drove 100km in two days mostly in roads, and i saw the fuel needle dip down like a mark !!!

Every time you reset the average L/100km (or mpg) it continues to calculate until you reset it again, independent of filling the tank. I reset mine everytime I fill up though just to get the average for that tank.

Try resetting it before a 100km trip and see what you get, then come back and tell us.

Its a 50L tank which is not that big, so seeing the needle move is not out of the ordinary.

You must be talking strictly highway driving to get 800km and over on a tank are you?

I filled up this week ( 3 weeks ago since last put gas in ) and my milage was 26 mpg. All city driving.
After filling up, it was indicating 558km range.
The tank was as full as I could get it I think. Put in 40 liters and there was almost a quarter of a tank left prior to filling up.

I assume that the range distance is based on type of driving done between adding gas and that if I had done all highway driving during that 3 week period, the range distance after filling up, would be much more?

I travel about 95% highway. I am not sure how it goes about predicting km range. I wonder if you did 100% city tank and then filled up and did a 100% highway tank how the numbers would change, as you are surely going to get more than 500kms per highway....interesting.
