Show your true colors is an expression that came from the pirate days. In the days of the pirates, they use to fly a false flag on their ships to make other ships think that they are friendly so they will come close and then the pirates can board and loot the other ship. Flying the proper flag means you are Showing your true colors.
I was just wondering what are the colors of your Corollas and why they chose that color. I have a silver Corolla. My last car was silver as well. I does not show dirt as easily as other colors. I sometimes do not have to wash my car for a month.
Trivia : THE CATS IN THE BAG!This is also a pirate expression. The pirates were very supersticious and always sailed with a cat on board. If the cat fell overboard the crew got very frightened that that may be an omen of bad things to come. Sometimes half the crew would jump ship at the next port because of the bad omen of the missing cat. So when pirates went to port they kept the cat in a bag, so that it would not run away.

I have a silver "s" because it was on the lot when I was ready to buy.
I would never buy a black or white car, they are to hard to keep clean unless you wash them constantly. Black and white cars do look really good though.
i told the dealer white, black or magnetic grey. i was fine w/ any of the three. i ended up w/ magnetic grey. one thing is for sure; it does not look dirty all the time like my black yaris did. even my dark blue corolla looked dirty quite often. i happen to think the white and magnetic grey make the corolla look less like an economy car for some reason.
having said that, if they made the corolla in the dark blue like the 9th gen, i would have accepted that color and no other.
I got the Magnetic Grey Metallic because thats the colour I wanted. It gives the car a sleek look, its a metallic so it has a bit of a subtle shine to it, and it looks fantastic with the stock XRS rims. Apparently this colour is pretty popular with the base CE models too because I see allot of this colour out there. Seen the Blue once so far.
I got silver, I did not like the magnetc grey. I use to have a Pewter grey Honda that looked realy good. It was 2 or 3 shades lighter than the metalic grey.
"Smurf" Blue - because I'm sick and tired of everyone's boring metal box on wheels looking the same. Silver, Silver green, silver beige, dark silver, light silver...ugh! Still silver!
I drove a silver XRS before and while it was great for not showing scratches and dirt, it just didn't inspire me. Would have tried red if it was either a bit more darker "cherry" like or fire-engine red.

The white corolla looks really good!
white is easier to keep clean then u might think, dust, pollen, and salt barely show, however u must keep it waxed or it will develop little 'rust' stains everywhere, had a white tacoma for a decade....
went with a red corolla, luv the colour, but it seems to show every mark, and bit of dirt, i admit to being a neat freak when it comes to cars, my car is never dirty for long and gets waxed at the very least 2x a month

I got black and a car duster. Looks clean most of the time. I wash it every other weekend. I use that special Mr. Clean car washing thing you screw onto your hose. Works well!
