Dot On New GPS Unit Dead Pixel? IDK

I just bought a 2009 XRS Corolla with the navigation and I've owned it for almost 4 weeks and I noticed a black spot on the gps unit. I'm not really sure if its a dead pixel it looks like 3 periods put together its appears on the surface but I used some LCD screen cleaner and micro fiber cloth to see if i could rub the dot off but it won't go away... when i hold a peace of paper to the screen it looks like its below the screen but descent look as far back as a pixel if that makes any sense. You think i should go back to the dealer I have a feeling they will practically laugh in my face for showing them such a small defect

Most warranties on LCD screens have a rule of up to 10% bad pixels before replacing it under warranty, but it never hurts to try as maybe the dealer doesn't follow this rule.

=====================================
Things have gotten MUCH better than the Most LCD panels have a particular number of "bad" pixels! Look at Goldstar for example! They began as almost "Trash" ........Almost seconds later""""" than quickly graduated to quality product (rather high at that) The opposite end of the spectrum is Apple (IMHO)!

One would be hard pressed to find a bad pixel in the good ole days on an IPOD, ...but look at them now! After all, one must compete or say BYE BYE to your sales (They are fighting back hard)!!!!!!

I have noticed that manufacturers have gotten VERY STUFFY with their return policy. You pay plenty for the manufacturer's policies, and initial QC of the item itself. (not to mention the brand its marketed under.

(dead) pixels "allowed" for in the warranty (in a certain amount of time which is also called out. before the particular item is called "defective' by the manufacturer I have seen this policy in things like IPODS etc, but not on things like we are discussing here (a good topic, if you ask me!) IPODS abd LCD;s

These little dead pixels ALWAYS seem to go bad either just before or the warranty ends. They also have a bad "habit' of going "bad" (or "stuck") on or off, at what turns out to be EXACTLY the correct moment I have had lots of them getting 'stuck

if you are going to file a claim, My advice is to do it NOW,,, GOOD LUCK!!!

If you go in there and act very professional and courteous they will probably fix it.

It is hard to say based on the experiences people have posted about different dealers.

My dealer would swap it out no problem. As a matter of fact the display quit on my radio a few days ago, then it came back on and hasn't done it since. I called my service writer to make an appointment and he told me to give him 3 days to get a radio in and then they would check it all out and if they didn't find a bad harness or something they would put the new radio in.

I don't think you can right out of the box, but I'm sure you could hack it.
