My car was wrecked!

So lastnight about midnight, I was on my way to see my friend she had called and asked me if i could go over. I didn't feel like going but then she just kept on telling me to go so then i told myself whats the worst that can happen if i went. I was driving on the katy freeway and I hit a red light on 99highway. I was waiting for my light to turn green and then it did. The light was green for about 2 secs or so. I threw my shifter in 1st moved the car about 6ft forward and this fucken idiot decides to run a stupid red light and runs straight into me. The car was going about 55-60 because the street is a 50mph road and my car litteraly did a 180. Luckily the airbag above the window went off or else my face would have gone straight through the window. After he hit me I just heard his engine revving. I was like OMG this fucken idiot is gonna run. So as all this is happening this guy had his truck behind the car that hit me. The guy that hit me then reverse and hits the guys truck goes forward again and hits me again as he is running away. Luckily the guy that was in the truck stayed with me all night and helped me out with the police. The couple inside the truck memorized his license plates and they gave em to the police. The car that hit me was found stranded. But we already have all of his information so i hope my car gets fixed and the idiot that hit me gets caught. I had no injuries other than my neck is killing me, but the only thing that is really hurting me right now is my car.

Sounds brutal! Absolutely brutal! I hope you get everything sorted out and your neck feels better.

It is sort of nice that we know our Corolla's can take a beating like that one...but this is not the way you want to know how safe your car is.

Houston drivers. GD they are the worst. At least you got his plates and registration so now he's a wanted man. Car might have been stolen. Well someone's insurance will cover it. You lucked out with the airbag! Too bad about the car. Now I'm glad I decided not to buy a Yaris. If it were me I would have been crushed!

I know. When the car hit me it like took me a while to realize what had just happend. Well we now know that we are safe in our corollas. I had to find out the hard way. I hope my car gets fixed fast...I feel extremely bad for it.

I am glas you are all right, the 2009 Corolla is one of the safest cars on the road. Just looking at the damage and considering that the airbags went off, I can guestimate that the damage is in the $8000 range. My last car was a Honda Civic, it got into an accident at the 2 year mark. Even though it was not an at fault accident on my part, they raised the insurance on me. If you are thinking of selling the car now, it would be the worse time. you will have to wait till the 5th or 6th year before the added devaluation on the car will not be as hard to take. If they can repair it to your satisfaction and it rides OK, then wait it our or you will loose big. From the pics it does not look like the frame was bent. Let us know what the final outcome is on the fix.

Yeah i dont think the frame got any damage. Only the door was badly damaged and a little bit of the front bumper when he tried to run away. I was thinking about getting it repaired and then maybe trading it in for an xrs or something. Im not exactly sure whats gonna happen right now i just want to get it fixed and see how it rides.

If you trade it now you will loose big in the first year of ownership. The cheapest way out is to get it repaired and hope it rides good. If you realy have to get a new one, then do not fix it. Get the insurance check for the repairs and trade it in the bashed in condition. You will get more that way. The dealer will absorb some of the repair cost as well as make a sale on you with the new car.. Most of the time when you trade a car in, they take into account the damage on your car at wholesale rates ( price of material and labour not calculating profit )

ouchh so glad to hear you're ok, and see a doctor about your neck too, one of my co-workers got into a car accident and got rearended twice by the same lady, he ended up with like 3 herniated discs in his neck and he's been outta work for 3 months

neck injuries are no joke, i would get it looked at as soon as possible

After the exam...do not be so fast to sign a release for medical claims! other pain and injuries can manifest themselves later on, even if it doesn't hurt right now!

I was hit once and refused to sign a release for 2 yrs....made the other insurance company cringe! Hope they get the other driver!!

If you got hurt...it can come back later!

Now that's some scary shit. You need to see a doctor ASAP.

When I was with my mom in her Tacoma a few years back, we were rear-ended by a van sliding at us at 50 MPH. She has chronic neck/shoulder pain to this day even after physical therapy.
