The side airbags work really well :[

Happened awhile back, but I thought I'd share a bit ;]

About two weeks before my birthday my 98' Tacoma finally crapped out on me so we ended up taking it in to the dealership to get it traded in for a new 09 Black Corolla S (It was very pretty looking!).

About a week into owning the sucker I was headed out of my neighborhood, just started accelerating after my light had turned green when out of nowhere I'm slammed into from the rear drivers side! Yeah needless to say it was a pretty horrible experience; after being hit by someone going 45mph my car almost did a 360 and ended up right on the curb just out of the way of traffic and the other guy's car ended up a little further down from me. My driver side door was stuck shut, but I was able to crawl out of the passenger side and since I was so close to home my mom and neighbor actually heard the accident happen so there was no lack of people checking to see if everything was alright. After I had stumbled out and ran over to the other guy (older looking man) to check if he was alright we ended up calling the cops; and while I'm standing there waiting for the guy to apologize for running the light all he has to say to me is, "Well this wouldn't have happened if you wouldn't have ran a red light." Turns out the only other car to cross through the green light from the other side of the road wasn't there to be a witness for the police since for some reason the 'genius' taking calls at the station told her she didn't need to stay as a witness because the police would handle it, so she drove off. And on top of that the guy who hit me was an insurance agent so you can probably tell the whole situation didn't get resolved very smoothly..

I didn't notice it until after the accident when I was taking this picture, but those side window airbags really are life savers. I had a bunch of burns and scrapes on the side of my head and left side of my body, but I imagine it would have been much worse had it not been for those airbags!

Just thought I'd share this! I saw a few of the other stories and it made me thankful I'm still here!

Almost the exact same thing happened to a co-worker of mine. Only difference is that my bud didn't had Side Curtain Airbags and smashed his shoulder up and had a cut on the left side of his face. These new Corollas seem to stand up pretty good in a collision.
