So I was wondering is it a lot of "made in japan" corolla out there since I though all the 09 corolla are made in N/A? Also, how many 09 owner here that their corolla are made in japan? Also, is there any difference (quality/assembly wise) between made in N/A / Japan corolla?
I live in the states and my Corolla is made from JAPAN ... You don't have to search up your VIN number to find out where your vehicle was made, I found out mine right next to the driver side door... Told me where my Rolla was made, my tire pressures for winter, and a bunch of other stuff... I couldn't tell you anything about the difference with the ones made in N/A compared to the ones from Japan, I've never driven other models of the Rollas except for the one I purchased...
I suspect the reason that some Corollas are brought in from Japan is U.S. Trade regulations.
The same reason why some big American car companies buy small forien cars to mee CAFE regulation ( CAFE = combined average fleet economy ) they need the more economical cars to balance out their gas guzzling fuel hogs.

no.
well...maybe. ive been out to the bars w/ a few workers from a japanese toyota plant (this fall). for a variety of reasons, they feel the cambridge plant is top notch and think the canadian workers take the kind of pride in their work the way the japanese workers did a decade ago. id be perfectly happy if my car were made in canada. mine was made in freemont, but ive had zero issues thus far.

CAFE has nothing to do with why Corollas are brought here from Japan; CAFE has to do with gas mileage, not a car's country of origin, so it doesn't matter where it was built.
Toyota brings over Corollas to meet demand of its BASE and LE models, since production of S and XRS (& even XLEs) models are exclusive to the NA plants here.
You did not understand what I said. I meant that there may be trade requirements for a Japanese company to bring in some Japanese cars or it may be that they are short of production on specific trim models.
On a separate matter, the american car companies have in the past brought in fuel efficient cars so that they can meet the CAFE requirements and sell the Lincolns and Cadilacs they were producing.

Corollas are produced at plants located in japan, The US, and China. There may be more that I am not aware of.
TMMC in cambridge, ontario makes many corollas for north america. i know plenty of the 9th gen corolls sold in the U.S. were made there, so i assume a fair number of the 2009 models made there are sold in the U.S.
Mine is made in Japan. I have a dealership installed "Platinum Edition" package, leather, fake wood dash etc. The dealership only uses Japanese cars for this option. Makes you wonder doesn't it?
my 09 LE was made in japan (bought in ohio). I will say I had one annoying rattle with it - so japan doesn't equal perfect
Mine was made in Japan, too, and you're right -- they're not perfect and likely no higher in quality than those made in the USA or Canada. By the way, what is the nature of your rattle. Mine has one really annoying one, also: near the front passenger-side A/C vent.. I cannot quite locate it or stop it!

I had a 1988 Chevy Nova that was made at the Freemont plant and it was tight as a drum. It was far better than the Japanese-made Corolla I just bought (I traded the 1988 Chevy Nova in for the Corolla this past May)

I had a 1992 Honda Civic that was Japanese made and was the perfect car, not one problem in 10 years. While in the past the Japanese made cars were much better than Jampanese car assembled elsewhere, all the cars still scored high in reliability. As far as the Nova made in the Freemont plant in California, that was a joint venture between Toyota and GM. Toyota had a stake in the place and was watching over quality very closely.
Here is a way for GM to save their ass. more joint ventures with Toyota!
