I am currently negotiating the price of an 2009 Corolla LE with Vehicle Stability Control. One dealer told me they only have VSC with several other additional options (options that I do not feel that I really need).
Here was his last quote:
Sale Price Corolla LE - $16,929.00 - includes destination fee
Doc Fee & CVR - $175.00
Tot. taxable amt. $17,104.00
Tax - $1,249.04
Title & License - $143.00
TOTAL: $18,486.04
(this does not include $1,000 cash back or $400 college grad incentives)
Total after incentives: $17,086.04
Is this a good deal?
He also quoted me a sale price of $16,200.00 for the basic LE package.
FE: 50 State Emissions
CK: All Weather Package
CL: Cruise Control
EV: 6 Disc CD Changer
LE: LE Package
EM: Color Outside Rear View Mirror with Heater
VS: Vehicle Stability Control
KE: Keyless Entry
CF: Carpet Floor Mats
He told me that the LE he has only have these options with VSC
I am telling him that I only want power windows/locks and VSC. I do not need the other options.
Thanks for the replies. I called another dealer, and the salesman told me that it is rare for an LE with VSC to not already have the additional options.
I have been able to haggle the selling price with destination fee to $16,670. This does not include $1400 worth of incentives, $150 doc fee and taxes. I also asked him to add side molding for free, but he first rejected it, but I shot back and am waiting a reply.
What is your experience? Do you know of LE's to have VSC, but not the additional options?

Not even cruise control? Cruise control should be standard these days, I can't believe its an option on any car. Especially a 2009... Just my opinion, but I would hate not to have it with major high way driving.

I do not want Cruise Control or other options if I am never going to use them. It seems like it is pretty much standard, even though Toyota's website says otherwise.
what I did was get quotes from all the dealerships in the region telling them what I want. All the dealerships in the region get them from the same place, and they all cost the same price. Its the dealer markups that can cause a variance with the price. once I got that low number, I took it with me to the dealership near me (not necessarily the one that quoted me the lowest price) and played around with that number. i mean if one dealer can offer that price, why can't another in the region do the same.
If you buy gap insurance, do not pay more that $300 total for gap.
I got gap for $275
I got a 6 yr /100k platinum warranty for $975
Basically got the dealer to sell me them at cost.
I would nt pay much more for these extras. Right now is a buyers market. You can pretty much name your price on a new corolla.
I got a Corolla S, auto with tint for 18700. in the us, there is a $1500 rebate, which put the car at $16200.00.
I would haggle for the best price. YOu can always go to another dealership and quote the last price given. Typically they will beat it by 100-200 bucks just go get your businsess.
Realize that dealerships have excessive inventory right now. With the questionable economy and high interest rates, no one is buying new cars.
Use this to your advantage and dont settle for their bull sht.
I did my homework and then i got 3 dealerships to bid against each other for my business.
These are the options (some are basically standard)
