To Clarify Rice...

Much debate over what is "rice" and what isn't...

Excessive Badges = Rice
Debadging = Not Really... depends on the circumstance. To Hide Base Model and add Fart Can yes its Rice... to clean up back end NO
Silly Body Kits = Rice
Putting VVTL-I / VTEC / V6 badges on a car that doesn't have any of those = Rice
Putting Lexus Badge on a Toyota = Rice
Fart Cans on cars with no IHEP mods = Rice
The list can go on. Please enjoy these Rice Offenders

This is Rice...

This is Funny...

My display pic/Avatar thing... you can call it rice or conservative rice. But people have to stop throwing the term rice around so much. I'm a minimum ricer and I accept it for having a TRD Badge on the inside of my car.

**please note how i contradicted myself by throwing the term rice around so much**

Merry Christmas Everyone. Hope this brought some cheer to your day.

agreed on everything. As for the TRD badge, if you have no TRD parts, its rice. I had a TRD badge on my car before but no TRD parts. I eventually debadged my whole trunk so it is nice and clean now.

Is putting a Honda badge on an Acura RSX rice? I think so, plus you are downgrading the car!

So far i just have the TRD Air Filter, and it came with that badge so i put it on the inside of my car rather the outside since it looks tacky outside. In the spring i'm putting TRD Lowering Springs on. But i'll still accept that its Ricey to put aftermarket badges on cars.

A buddy of mine replaced his Acura Badge with a Red honda badge on his RSX Type S... it doesn't look too ricey to me. Kinda funny actually. I just call his car a Prelude now.

Bottom line: it is a subjective judgment of the tackiness of other people's cars. Nobody has to get their feelings hurt by it. If I wouldn't have done something, then it's rice. I don't think it's any tackier to put a body kit on a base model than it is to drop $2000 extra on a car for skirts and a plastic S on the front, unless I think said body kit looks rediculous. If somebody likes a sport kit enough to pay $1500 for it, they shouldn't care if I think it's ricey. I am glad we have these threads, though. I love all the pics, and I can't wait to post up mine in the spring for community bashing.

In general I would exclude factory models.

But I don't think the S looks fast.

very well said. if you like whatever you have done to your car, then you shouild not lose sleep over what someone else thinks of it. to me, anything that looks out of place looks ricey, including the emblems being taken off, or the black alloys that some people put on (always looks like a car with steelies with the hubcaps fallen off). nobody should care what i, or anyone else thinks. if you want to put a muffler on your car that a small child could get lost in, and you like the looks of it, go for it.

advertising something that your car isn't is rice. IE: VTEC stickers on a non vtec car.

i agree with the posters opinion on this matter wholeheartedly.

Enapa, the S isn't really rice because the body kit makes it look nice and everyone who buys an S agrees it looks 10x better with it than the regular corollas. If you have an S and put an XRS badge on it, thats rice. The body kit is an aesthetic addition done right without being over the top.

There was also another XRS on here that had a hood scoop on it. That is definitely rice because there is no actual air intake or turbo in there.....but if you get a functional hood scoop because you put a cheeky turbo in there, thats awesome!!!!

proof that everyone has their own opinion in the matter. i specifically did not buy the s because i feel the body kit messes up the clean conservative look of the car, and is just a bit much for an economy car. (i was forced into buying the base model so i could drive a stick...f#$% toyota for not offering sticks on the xle/le models) IF there were 180+ horses under the hood of the s, then at least it would actually be fast instead of trying to look fast.

So it means if you don't have a fast car don't put nicer rims? And what if I like blue color lights? No can have because my car is not fast? (I do like a blue or whiteish lights but probably not going to get them).

I think it should be all about how it looks.. (of coarse except having TRD sticker when you don't have any TRD parts)
