I bought a 2009 Corolla S on Saturday, and I have what may be the dumbest question I've ever asked: how do I pause a cd in the stereo?!
I've got the JBL 6-disc system, and I can't for the life of me find a play/pause button anywhere. I searched the manual to no avail, and I'm completely stumped. I can't imagine such a basic function would have been abandoned?

Thanks for your help!
This doesn't answer your question but ,might be an indication why you can't find a pause button. The factory( non JBL ) stereo that came in my 2009 S does not have a pause function, which I find hard to believe. I thought that all modern cd playable stereos had that function. It's quite an annoying non feature.
I don't know why I use the pause button so much, but not having it makes me realize how much I rely on it.
My old car was an '01 Corolla and it had a pause button (on both the stock stereo, and the aftermarket one I installed), but maybe it's become more common in the last several years to leave it out?
I think I'll survive though. It's still a fantastic car, and a HUGE upgrade from my old one. I've spent the last few days just thinking of excuses to drive places.
Not sure which "stereo" you're talking about (basic stock, SAT ready, or SAT enabled) but on the SAT ready head unit, you can use your SAT controls (folder buttons) to browse by artist, album, track, etc. and not just playlists.
FYI: iPod interface is NOT (and I mean 100% NOT) compatible with the SAT "enabled" head unit.
One must be in the car an awful lot to warrant the need of a pause button.
Does the passenger seat have a pause button? LOL Hell I would settle for a mute button for that matter! (sure hope the wife doesn't read this)
A little off topic but a friend of mine once installed a microphone in his drivers seat and tied it into the auxiliary somehow so that everyone else could enjoy the Chinese food he just ate. haha
What I would like to do is install a mic in every seat with a different alert so I know who to kick out of my car! :P (and of course one in mine that automatically rolls "up" all the windows. haha)
We don't need no stinking pause button. That's why there ain't one. Switch your mode to radio and upon return to CD, it will pick up where you left off, effectively paused.

Works good enough. Plus, it seems that since I've questioned why I use the pause button so much, I've stopped needing it as much, haha.
It's just kind of nice when you stop somewhere or go through a drive through or something, and don't want to miss the "good part" of a song that's coming up.
