corolla from south africa

i live in egypt,I own a toyota corolla 2008 which is made in south africa, and i kind of noticed that the quality of the car is not the same as that comes from japan in terms of interior materials and interior duarabilty , also the new MM-T transmisson.
So, Does the corollas made in south africa is of same standards and quality as those from japan .
Also the MM-T does it have the same durability and reliability as normal manual and automatic transmissions.

Thank's

Rogel,

I think that the basic design and structural integety of the Corollas are the same world wide. It is just not economical for Toyota to redesign the car for every region or country. The trim levels are different in each country to suit the needs of the different dempgraphics that exist in each location. As far as durability is concerned I think that they put durable fabrics and plastics in all their cars. In some countries the climate might not be suitable for some fabrics.

I do not know what a MM-T transmission is, maybe you can explain it to us what the difference from the manaul, automatic and MM-T transmissions.

The price you pay will also determine what you get inside the car. Do you know what the Egyptian web site is for Toyotas, maybe we can take a look and see what the difference is.

I know that Corollars are not the same in different regions of the world, for example the Indonesian Corollas can be ordered with leather seats and be as luxurious as a Lexus, but I am also sure that it can be much more plain than the North American Corollas.

Thank's very much for your reply , and as for the MM-T transmission it stands for multi mode transmission which is much like manual transmission but with automated clutch , where a computer is used to shift between gears .

These manumatic transmissions are offered here in North America in many cars, but not in the current model Corollas. I have driven serveral cars with the manumatic transmissions and see no great advantage. These transmissions are normal automatic transmissions that have a computer to shift into the speed in which you want to go at, it also will up or down shift the transmission appropriately so that you do not damage your transmission if you over rev the engine. I suspect that most people will use this feature for a short time and almost never use it again. As for durability, I think that if you put the car in automatic mode you will get the same durability as a regular automatic transmission.
