Canada Snowy condition as made damage...

Hi

Earlier tonight I have parked my car a bit too far over a curb and damage my from bumper on my '09 S. (The curb was hidden by a fair amount of new snow )

I have damage a few clip holding the bumper on the left side. Thes hopefully can be glued or maybe I could use some tie-wrap to make this fit like a new one. Like we say... what you don't see can't hurt you (except for curb under the snow wich can hurt your car)

My main problem is that I have many deep scratches on the lower left corner add-on of the front bumper. In addition, the thing won't hold there for long too as the stress on backing up the car from the curb has put a lot of tension on this little piece of plastic and almost rip it off the bumper.

I was wondering, can I buy this bumper plastic add-on from a part shop or would it be dealer only? If dealer only, will it come painted with the 3M tape (or silicone) they put under to make it stick to the bumper?

Any suggestion of an online store or a good toyota part dealer (Cheap) or even an A1 body shop in the Montreal QC area would be appreciated.

Or any good idea to help with this situation would be welcomed.

I hate snow.

Regards,

Berg

I order my parts from them, cheapest by far, half of canadian dealer pricing on many pieces.

Wouldn't the small bumper additions be clipped on? There is a gasket at the top seam but as I know its clipped through the bumper beneath. The body kit piece may not be available separate yet but definitely will be a dealer only part still.

That really sucks!!! I know how you feel, I did the same thing (Well kind of)!!!!!

We've been getting really crappy weather lately and my yard is nothing but a big ice rink.... As I was pulling in my driveway about 3 weeks ago, the XRS slid and ran right into a snow bank... Well not a snow bank but an ICE bank.... Caved in the driver side pretty nicelly (about 4-5 inches) and popped all the clips olding the front (which the dealer replaced).

Went to the dealer and he initially said I was really lucky since I just popped the clips but upon further inspection he realized I had actually cracked the front but you can't see it as the split is right under the driver side front spoiler piece (PNC76083A / same piece I think you're referring to)... Body shop told me that they can easily fix it like new by bonding the plastic (don't ask me about the procedure) and repainting that part. For now since it's pretty cold outside, the body shop just tacked where the split started in order to prevent it from spreading and I'll take care of it this summer.

Since I've only had the car for 6 months I was maybe thinking of simply replacing the entire front end with a new one (comes unpainted) and getting it repainted... Total of about $800. I'd still get my current one fixed like new and just keep it as a spare.

Body shop also told me I was lucky I didn't crack front spoilers (Again, I think these are what you're referring to) on each side because although the entire front end is only $205 those small pieces are actually about $500 a piece!!!!!!!!! He told me that a new front end for the S is about $180.. Which I found odd since I thought the XRS and the S had the same front...

Krow,

Its the labour these days that will kill you. I once went ot a bumper rebuild place once, the collected all the cracked bumpers from the scrap yards and then epoxied them back into shape. Its the removal and installation plus prep and painting that will cost you big bucks. The bumper itself will not be the biggest expense.

I went to the dealer this morning to have my oil change and I had a quote for the damage part. Only the small piece of plastic is 250$ CDN and the seal under is like 14$. So add labor and paint and I think this would end at 500$. So once I took a look at the damage once the car was up I saw that I could live with the damage, the mechanic was nice and say he would fix the broken bracket for free (something free in 2009, you got a like it.); real nice guy. I don't think I will have it repaint this winter as something else may happen, I will wait and see.

Since the incident I have been checking the other options avaible in the aftermarket world. I saw on the net that Wing West is making some nice front end that could replace that expensive bumper assembly we can find on the S or the XRS for 267$ USD. You might want to take a look into this if you are considering changing your front end. It would be cheaper and look diffrent than other S or XRS. I find it strange that the XRS body parts would be more expensive as it is the same as the S in my eyes.

Also, thanks for the front end breakdown sheet you have copy in your post.

As we are talking about unwanted incident, I have order a clear bra film on ebay to protect from rock chips and scratch from icy snow bank, I will install shorlty. My car is silver and the primer looks like being black under, so any chip or scratch is really apparent.

***PS: I have sit in the new Venza this morning and it is pretty nice. Check this out at your next visit to your local dealer.

Have a great year guys... !

The snowy conditions didn't make the damage, you did.

Good luck fixing the car man.

Does anyone have a break down pic of the rear bumper and how to take it apart I Am concerned about getting it replaced when Someone hits me in the future since I have my expanding foam in its place. I dont think I even can get the some of the parts to take it off thats why I am asking for the pics of a break down and directions. Or maybe someone could just show me/tell me.
