Angry When I turn my brights on, my car blinds me!

I drive the XRS and live in downtown buffalo, where brights are almost never needed. Then one night I was out far from home and needed them, only to get a nice sh***y suprise;

Has any one else been driving down a dark country road and needed to turn on their brights, only to have a blaring blue bright as hell indicator light up on the gauges and beam directly into your eyes?

This light is so bright it actually makes it much more difficult to see at night when the brights are on. My nephew had riding in the back seat a few days prior and thank god he left some stickers in my car. I had to actually pull my car to the side of the road and cover the blue fireball up. I used an american flag sticker and it helped me see a LOT better (I can still see a nice bright blue glow even with the sticker in place, but at least it doesnt shine directly into my eyes uninhibited anymore)

I dont want to drive around forever with a sticker up there though..

It is pretty bright. Usually they just have the outline of the highbeam symbol. You can't dial it down with the rest of the consol either. I drive a lot at night with high beams on and I am still getting used to it.

you can change the brightness by turning the right nob thing by the gauges (which is the odometer button). Counter-clockwise will decrease brightness and clockwise will increase. If you hadn't touched it yet then it will need a little more torque to turn because it is probably clicked into what I call the "brightest" setting.

It's somewhat bright, but I don't find it distracting.

that knob doesn't adjust the warning/informative lights.. I don't think it will cuz then you might end up not knowing that check engine or oil light missing..

Yes I remember thinking "it's bright" but not bright enough to distract me..

That's the part I forgot to mention, the high beam indicator light can't be adjusted with the gauges. If the road is dark enough,

like say a pitch black night on a winding road with thick forest on both sides of the road blocking 95% of the star light and have the possibility of deer popping out,

that high beam indicator is like having some body shine a blue key chain flash light in your face while you drive. Idk a bout the other models, but in the XRS this light is rediculously and dangerously bright IMO.

I use my highbeams quite a bit while driving out into the suburbs and the indicator light isn't that bright in my car. Definitely not anywhere near as bright enough to cause glare or distract from the road.

Might want to have your dealership check that out, if they don't agree with you, you could always have the dash read out tinted. Not that difficult to do. You dont even have to tint the entire thing, just a strip down the middle maybe?

Ive noticed that if there are alot of out side lights (street lamps, lights on houses, etc.) the light isn't SUPER bad, but like i said if it is the only source of light other than the headlights, mine is blinding

Zenith is right... a very light tint on the dash readout will do the trick

How far back are you sitting when you drive? Are you driving like a thug with the chair reclined/pumped all the way down/as far back as possible/left arm on the wheel/right arm on the shifter/leaning towards the passenger seat with your eyes at level with the blue light???

if so, then that may be your problem. I sit straight up and the indicator light is not bright at all. It might have to do with the angle. I noticed if i dropped my head lower to almost the level of the indicator it got brighter...

No point on complaining about it... It obviously doesn't affect people like it affects you. Tint clear plastic on the console.
