Poor AM Reception 2009 Corolla

I recently bought a 09 Corolla. The AM wasn't that great to begin with and became worse when I had window tint installed as the antenna is in the rear window.

Does anyone know of a way to mount an external antenna on this car without punching a hole in the sheet metal?

Is it possible to mount one where the XM antenna is; this is where they are on the older models.

Thank you.

Yes it is possible. Simple task for someone with a little training. I didn't realize that AM was still that popular.

Thanks Jim Bob,

Are you aware of any sites where there is a procedure for doing this. I am no master auto mechanic, but I believe that I am adept enough to do this if I knew the steps.

Thanks again!

No sites come to mind. I take it you wish to swap out the satellite/am/fm antenna for one that you believe will pick up more am stations. As you may know, antenna type is only part of the equation. Radio sensitivity and selectivity also play a part in what you receive. Plus, with limited bandwith and frequently limited station wattage, am stations are becoming a dying breed. May I suggest you consult experts at an auto stereo store (like www.crutchfield.com ) to determine if antenna replacement will accomplish what you seek before you invest your money and time.
