if you plan to mode this car.....don't buy it.... if u just want a good fuel saving car...buy a S
after 1 yr driving xrs....dun think its a good car as first buy.....its really not fast enough for this price
thinking of moding it....but....THINK.... if u want to mode it for faster....costing u 5000-6000....why dun you buy a GTI or IS250......

the installation is way too expansive than the parts ....>.<
lowering spring 265 included tax and shipping.......but toyota is asking 750 for installation...........er....
finally, aftermarket price for installion is 120.....glad to find my frd to do it....canada

LOL... man I don't know if it is the fact that it is early, or that you aren't speaking english...

Either way... the XRS is a good car. Not for a "street racer" but for a nice looking car that can pass other cars with ease, it is good. Don't expect a WRX STI or anything. But i love my xrs, and The Vancouver Dealers must be raping rCustom, because springs are $199 here, and $400 to install at the dealer... or $50-75 per corner at a good Tuner Shop. Either way, Mods will come soon, the car is still new, and it is a solid ride. Zero Regrets here, but then again i'm not a street racer so I don't need 200-300 HP right now.

Its a solid buy, and the price isn't too bad for what you get. Just make sure you get a good deal from the dealer.

However, if you want a street racer car... go buy MazdaSpeed3, Cobalt SS, SRT-4, WRX STi, Lancer Ralliart, or even the Si as a tuner base... OR if you want a coupe go for the Eclipse GTP... All of those are better tuner bases...

IT is all about what you NEED. For my needs, the XRS is amazing. Actually... you're in Mass. so why not buy a Scion tC? then you can Mod it like a MOFO... Scion tC's have sooo many mods available. You can even it do TRD Mods when you order it from the factory, and it has the same engine / design as the XRS... but better.

I have to agree with sinnaever completely. Its all about what you need.

However, I am unsure as to why rCustom would buy an IS250, as its 6-10k more than an xrs, with almost the same 0-60.

If I was looking for something to mod and have fun with, I think I would have gone GTI.

Depends what you want. I'm very pleased with my XRS purchase...more now than when I bought it actually. The XRS is primarily ...a practical 4 door sedan with fantastic trunk space and decent rear seat space. The XRS suspension is relatively stiff, cornering is quite decent, and its more than fast enough (I think 0-100kph is 7.9 seconds...not sure if that was auto or manual). The best part about it is that the 2.4L is quite torquey. My biggest beefs are with the less sophisticated torsion beam rear suspension. Aside from that its quite good.

Its not a racer and its not a sports car ...but it compares nicely to the Mazda3 2.3L and the Honda Civic EX features wise. Its faster than both but I think the Mazda3 has a handling edge.

So depends on priorities and what you want. I wanted something smallish, sporty, preferably with a sunroof, and ultimately a practical highway car. XRS is perfect for me.

The XRS is the same engine as the 4cylinder 2003-2009 camry, Matrix, and Scion. In terms of modability, I think the Scion version has the most support (TRD supercharger).

The engine is great for cruising (not racing). Unless you love the looks/options of the XRS, I would go with the Scion(Lower invoice price).. The two weigh pretty much the same and have the same engine.

yea ive done homework i would rather have a quick highway car rather than an off the line racer At highway speeds where is it running on the tach? the tc is allright the steering feels a littel heavy and too ...asisted and everything is aquardly arranged (everything is centered and cemetric i beleive the driver should have kindov a cockpit feel) theyr both attractive cars

what did they doo to detune the 2.4 ? and YYYYYYYY LOL

that;s the same thing I look at too, tach reading/cruising speed. the 2az-fe has the ability to keep up with traffic from a stop.

I cant speak for the XRS. It is a slightly lower weight (100-200lbs?) but I used to drive a 2006 camry and a 2009 camry (now belonging to other family members). I serviced them myself w/ mobile 1 synthetic, but left everything stock. The 2006 was a little quicker than the 2009, due to weight or the fact that the 2009 was new and not yet broken in. Im not sure which.

These are my engine stats for both cars. I am impressed by the low engine strain at cruising speed. There is a reason why Toyota is using this engine across their lineup...

60mph (2K RPM or less)

70mph (~2.1k - 2.3k RPM) This is the max I keep it. At higher speeds the engine has to work much harder. It might just be due to gearing.

I wouldn't call it a detune... more or less i'd say different components. I don't know for sure, but i'd image the tC has a different diameter exhaust. As little as a 1/4" gain in diameter can cause for a fluctuation in HP & torque... So maybe the Headers are different size, maybe exhaust, or intake... But whats the difference 3 HP? Not a big deal. Most can't tell the difference between 158 & 161 HP.
