2009 Corolla VS. 2010 Mazda 3

I had a chance to drive the 2010 Mazda 3 today. Does it measure up to the 2009 Corolla? While it is a different type of car, and some people may like it more than the Corolla. I feel that I made the better choice by buying the Corolla. The Mazda 3 is made in Japan, with a mazda engine. Not a Ford engine like someone told me. The bucket seats are hader and less comfortable, some people may say that it adds to the sporty feel. The ride is harder than the Corollas ride. The back seat area and truck are smaller than the Corollas. On a scale of 10, the Mazda is 1.5 points short of the Corollas 8.5/10:wo rship:

My co-worker just got new Mazda 3 sedan.

It's a comparable car to the corolla.

He paid 16 something for a car with no power windows, keyless entry or cruise.
About the same price i paid for my corolla with cruise, power windows & keyless entry.

The Mazda seems like a fine car but it's not a Toyota.
Neither was the Sentra I tested against the corolla when I bought.

The Sentra tracked down the highway better, has more driver legroom and had better colors.

But I got both dealers down to about the same price, so I went with Toyota

I wasn't going to buy a Nissan without a $1000 price discount

Hard to compare. Mazda is being very aggressive with the equipment level to attract more people into the compact class (automatic wipers/headlights, proximity entry and keyless start, large alloys, HIDs, navigation, bluetooth, power seats with memory etc). It's effectively offering the compact car buyers what the smart and mini are offering to the subcompact (or micro in the case of the smart) - premium features without moving up to the next class.

You think the Mazda3 is bad... check out the restyling on the MX-5 Miata

Talk about happy cars, literally.

The 2010 Mazda3 is the best performing Car in its class easily. However, the front end Styling is the only thing going against it. Maybe the ugliest smile i've ever seen. Oh well. The rest of the car's styling is nice, just not the front end...
