Canada Overhead Leakage

This morning when I sat down in my car and drove no more than 60 seconds and no more than 200 metres. I noticed my overhead compartment on the right hand (passenger) side was leaking quite a bit. Mind you it was raining overnight, and wind between 60-90km/hour. But still, it has rained before, and it has snowed even more.

To be exact it was leaking on the lower right corner (closest to windshield). It only leaked for about 15 seconds, and after words it was still pretty soaked.

Does this merit a drive to the dealer? About 3500km's, purchased December 08.

Thoughts?

+1 on that. It is not normal for a car to leak.

problems or defects like those warrant a return to the dealership. dont wait till it dries up or else the dealership would tell you that there is no problem at all.

It could be that there was a piece of snow or ice that cause the rubber to no longer be water tight. When you opened the moon roof, maybe a piece of ice got between the rubber seal and the glass.

I know on the Matrix there was a bulletin published regarding water leaking in. It didn't mention the Corolla, but since they're built on the same platform at the same plant, I'd assume that it's possible a similar problem would exist.

Either way, if you can replicate the problem again, and it's not just a one-off thing, I'd take it in to the dealership and get it checked out. At the very least it will let Toyota know there is also a problem on the Corolla as well.

Jeff
