Does anyone have any experience with the Toyota dealer rustproofing. I didn't get it on my corolla but my neighbour is in the process of buying a little Yaris and isn't sure about the dealer rustproofing. Is it any good? Is it done at the dealer by their mechanics? They want $1100 for undercarriage and body panels. That sounds ridiculous to me and I'm sure that can be negotiated down a bit. If anyone had it done can you give me some tips. Thanks.
My dealer gave me a price of $500 if I did it that week. I think it's likely a good idea, but I have a problem with buying a car, paying the list of add on fees, taxes, admin etc. and then finding out that it will rust if you don't pay for protection.

Hey everyone,
I am about to purchase my car (just waiting for delivery) and they gave me a deal of $398 instead of 899.99; 1100 is INSANE! the only reason why i got mine so cheap is because the dealership just opened a new location and so it was a special deal to that. And it includes everything.

insane that they can still trick people into thinking they need it when cars are so well protected from the factory. i have 3 friends who drive 9th gen corollas that were bought in 2002, so they've been driven through 6 michigan winters, lots of salt, and are almost 7 years old now, all with well over 100,000 miles on them. not a hint of rust. there is some on the undercarriage, but very minor, and aftermarket rustproofing will not prevent that anyway after that many years.
if you have a few hundred dollars laying around, use it to pay down your loan if you have one, or buy some mods, or better yet buy some stock (now is the time). you will thank me in 10 years.
"KROWN" once a year for $110/application (locked in price for the life of the vehicle). I started using it with my 94 Tercel(sold) and have continued with 2000 Sienna(sold), 05 Highlander and 09 Corolla. No rust on the Tercel when I sold it in 05 and the same with the Sienna in 08. I had a similar product like "SYM TECH" applied to my long gone 89 Escort, it had NO effect with the ensuing rust. "SYM TECH" might be a great product but the price seems very steep. I know many people who have used "KROWN" with the same satisfying results. "RUST CHECK" is also similar to KROWN.
Holes were drilled on the trailing edge of the doors and around the door openings. 19 holes in total, 9 per side (5 front/4 rear) and 1 on the trunk lid.
