Image Reasons

- Almost all the corolla drivers out there are 50+ and I'm 19 which seems strange

-My friends ask me what car I drive, they think Corolla is for old people

-Every Corolla out there , are slow drivers

-People Think civic and mazda 3 are way better cars, and I think too

Engine Reasons

- Loud engine sound while accelerating

-Feels transmission shift gears

-Bad steering wheel feel

-Hard to get up to speed

-3k rpm driving on highway at 110km/h.
Now I'm planning on the getting the CIVIC

stop listening to other people!!!

did you know that the COROLLA has sold 32,000,000.00 units since the middle of last year?

go ahead and sell it since its a horrible car and might ruin your reputation

If you trade in now, you will take one in the rear and give someone a almost new car with a 40% off tag on it!

i drove these two cars on more test drives than i can count.
the civic is louder on acceleration.
the civic is louder at cruising speed.
the actual difference in acceleration to speed is not noticeable.
the corolla DOES NOT rev at 3000 rpms at 110 kph (which is 68 mph). its more like 2650 rpms. even at 113 kph it is still at 2800 rpm's.
AND i see boatloads of old folks driving the civic 4 door.

I am 23 and I have no problem with the corolla. I admit the pervious versions are a little bit too conservative but the new version is a whole different story. I am not saying the civic and the mazda 3 are worse than the corolla, but for the long run, corolla will be on top of the list. As a previous mazda owner (sold today) Mazda parts are more expensive than the corolla and mazda tends to always have minor problems, especially for the brake system (My protege 5 had to replace the brake caliper three times)

i guess depends on what you are looking for? Honda civic is a nice car if you go for the SI (if you like high reving driving style). If not SI, the civic is still using SOHC and lack of low end torque. Corolla is a better overall car for daily driving. I mean if you are looking for a performance sedan, corolla is not your type of car. Corolla is more a car for daily driving, good fuel economy. Last but not least...pricing of the corolla is cheaper than the other two as well.

PS: this is a toyota forum, so you will always get basis info. But as a previous mazda owner, I really like my corolla.

Hey I'm 19 too and all my friends say it's a cool and good looking car... So what is the problem? You are gonna let other people decide what they want you to drive?? Just remember that the corolla has a good reputation.

someone will take it in the rear, but it may well be his father, since he bought the corolla in the first place. if someone buys me a car scott free, i will find a way to like it.

My friends owns a 08 Civic, I drove it and it feels much better than the Corolla. The acceleration is smoother, quieter, more responsive, better tuned suspension. Better feel.

your first comment is a bit biased. im younger then you and i drive a corolla. (17btw). how are corolla's for old people?? thats what avalons, ls460's and camry's are for. what do you mean slow drivers exactly?? slow as in the car (cuz the last xrs wasnt slow). here's a fact: over the course of history the corolla has sold more units then the civic. cant. compare the mazda 3 for pretty simple reasons (hope i dont need to explain that)

you are going to feel what you want to feel. you had your mind made up before the corolla was bought for you. hopefully, no one will get burned too much unloading a barely one yr old car.

Most of the Corolla's I see on the street in Toronto are old people who drives really slow and blocking up traffic. The civic and mazda 3 targets young which most are aggresive drivers - fast drivers.

ericgu22 drive what u want after all its your family's money and not ours. but i would rather drive a more stylish car like the 2009 corolla than an almost obsolete honda civic.

I'm one of those 50+ guys you refer to. Your first sentence tells me the difference between you and me when I was 19. Mainly, my Dad would have never bought me a car. I had to work my butt off to get my first car and it was an 8yr old Monte Carlo. I pretty much loved it, or any car that I could have called mine. I hope over time your Dad's car grows on you.

that's only the image of the car, not equal the mazda 3 and civic are better than the corolla. Imagine if all the old people are driving around town with ferrari and porsche, will you say those are slower and worse than a civic or a mazda 3.

Those old folks aren't blocking traffic. They're trying to get the twerps driving civics and mazda3s with the coffee can screwed to their exhaust ahead of them so they can keep an eye on them. When, oh when will the idiots realize their biggest fear while driving should be the wrath of their insurance company?
