JBL system on USA models.

I was wondering which jbl components are in the jbl systems in the 2009 corolla that are sold as factory options in US dealerships ie) amp/speaker/hu model?

Asking b/c i'm from canada and this premium audio system is not offered.

Also asking b/c i have a 2002 camry xle with the jbl system and i love it!.

I just purchased the XRS with JBL as an option and from what I have seen the option is the JBL speakers and nothing else.

However, I may be incorrect in saying that is all. I have not looked for anything else saying JBL. I did note also that instead of four speakers (no option) with the JBL option I got eight, or six, speakers.

The JBL system includes 2 extra speakers, an external amplifier, bluetooth microphone, and the switches on the steering wheel to control the bluetooth system. The dash harness/roof harness is different from models without JBL. Swapping in a JBL system would be a significant amount of work and cost prohibitive, unless you do your own wiring, which is possible but time consuming.

I looked into it extensively.

EDIT: There are really a few levels of audio system, there is the 4-speaker 1-disc, 6-speaker 1-disc, 6-speaker 6-disc, and 8-speaker 6-disc with JBL. I think that covers them all.

I did not, and if you were to buy all the parts needed from Toyota, at least a couple thousand. Less if you find them used/etc.

Have you or anybody else been able to prove they are actually JBL speakers or are there just 'more' speakers? Seems like every other model of car gets the standard orange "JBL" on the speakers but ours don't and I'm just 'told' that they are JBL. I'm just curious because I still notice an anemic mid range (it bothers me that I'm actually getting used to it). I'd hate to be missing something and just not know it.

I just picked up my '09 "S" with the JBL option and have to say that it is a disappointment. The Bose set-up in my '93 Accord sounded better than this JBL system. Even my Monsoon system in my '02 Golf was better.

Despite six speakers there just seems to be no high-end...

replacing the oem 6 speakers might do the trick.

I got 8 speakers with my JBL.

The quality of sound is nice, and I'm an audiophile.

JBL is 8-speaker, if you don't have 8-speakers, you don't have JBL, lol.

I'm curious. Where are the 2 additional speakers placed?

They are on the front door panels below the tweeters, right in front of the door handles.

My LE already have tweeters at base of A pillar. That's just above.
