I am thinking this would look nice on a silver 09' S? Gunmetal with polished/machined lip. I am leaning towards the 17 X 7.5" with 35+ offset, or 17 X 7" with 40+ offset? I am not sure if the 40 offset will clear the stock shocks/struts? What do you guys think? 18" would be even better but my cous is on a tight budget.
Too bad his rear's are drum and not disc brake or we could paint all the calipers red. That would be golden.
those are nice, would look great on white or black cars

You might as well say eww to every other non japanese aftermarket wheel out there too.
"Because REAL rims are expensive" yet I when I had my Echo Hatch on Work wheels I got "You put Work Wheels on an Echo, in the end it's still a piece of shit Echo"

LOL!
No this isn't an "eww" to non-Japanese wheels...Rotas are made in the Philippines. Rota wheel designs are just copies of other companies wheels (mostly Japanese), and their quality has been shown to be questionable. I know most Corolla owners here probably won't track their cars, but I wouldn't want to risk my wheel break apart from the hub while I'm driving.

I completely understand where you are coming from but Rota isn't the only company that copies wheel designs and has questionable quality.
Check out these SportMax wheels...
HREs anyone?
I'm trying not to stick up for Rota or anything but all I'm saying is other wheel brands (when put in certain conditions) also have the tendency to crack, fail, what have you...
I would also like to apologize for jacking this thread LOL!!!
But to be back on topic 17 x 7.5 with a +35 offset is (what I was told) perfect for our corollas...and if your cousin is on a tight budget...cheaping out on the wheels is the last thing you would want to do...the wheels make or break the whole stance/look of your car...

Yeah, SportMaxes are ripoffs of old school wheels. IDK, why would anyone rip on an Echo for having Work wheels? On the flipside, EVO & WRX owners go out and buy Rotas much like their Honda counterparts
Anyway, the majority of wheels for the FWD are made in China unfortunately. Like anything good, you might have to spend a little extra. There are some reputable companies out there but you have to look for it (Enkei, Buddy Club, 5 Zigen, Weds, TSW, etc.)
I had my heart set on the TRD wheels for my Corolla, but after I found out they weighed 30lbs I started looking elsewhere. After I found some 17~20lb wheels from a company I've never heard of for half the cost of the TRDs, I rejoiced! After reading this thread, however, I think I may just get the higher quality, heavier TRD wheels after all and save myself the embarassment and headache of wheel failure.

I believe those TRD wheels are the same ones that fit the tC and the previous generation Corolla/Matrix...there might be some used sets out there so you don't have to pay the dealer price
