I've been thinking about buying a 2009 Corolla, but I'm concerned about what appear to be large blind spots created by the rear seat head restraints (not sure if that's the proper term) and the rear roof pillars.
What's the experience of current 2009 Corolla drivers? Am I correct in assuming that the 2010 blind spots will be the same as in the 2009's?
i think u are wearing glasses right????.... i am fine with it.... just turn ur head a bit more is fine...
Yes, I do wear glasses (are you psychic?). It's possible that the rear roof pillar is something that you learn to adapt to, but, during my test drive, it was an unpleasant surprise.
The rear seat head restraints, combined with the sloping rear window, also seem to block a lot of the rear window's visibility.
I would have to say that there are def blind spots due to both the things that you mentioned. it took me a while to get used to it but I am fine with it now. just have to move your head a bit now and then. I wouldn't say that they are much worse then the average cars blind spots. hope that helps
You ain't seen a blind spot til you've seen one created by a Tundra's side mirrors. You could run over a large family making a right turn. Never even noticed the Corolla's

+1
Switching from a truck to the Corolla, I never even considered blind spots to be an issue.
I will agree with you, i noticed it when I picked up my car and it was kind of annoying at first having come from a two door car with a small backseat that I rarely used and had no rear headrests.
I've had the car for a week now, I got use to the rear headrests after a couple days and I don't even notice the other. I can also back this up so much better than my previous car for some reason. Maybe it's cause I am actually taking the time to do it this time lol
Regardless, it's a comfortable and relaxing to drive, just takes a little more head movement to not hit anything or anyone.

All newer cars with enhanced rollover safety features have larger blindspots. That said, if your side mirrors are proerly aligned, then the blind spots are eliminated. Key is setting up the side mirrors properly and not using them as a means of looking way behind you. They're for beside you.
