Canada Selling for a higher price?

so many 09 corolla cars in this forum with repair and fixes done at the dealership. just like in the US they have CARFAX.com that reports a certain car with accident/s. there should also be a reporting agency that will tell future buyers of 2nd hand cars that has undergone manufacturer fixes and repairs.

so should a 2nd hand 2009 corolla with no fixes or repairs sell for a much higher price than those that has come in and out of the dealership because of manufacturing or assembly defects?

carfax isn't always accurate, there was a special on the news that looked into the flaws and limitations of such a system. a lot of owners found out months later that the car they bought wasn't the car they thought they bought in the first place because it took much long than expected for the insurance reports to be filed and recorded on the cars history.

There is...at least in Canada.

All Toyota's serviced at a Toyota dealership are logged into the Consolidated Vehicle Service History. It'll show you what's been done to the car over it's lifetime.

So it is my understanding (don't lynch me if I get this part wrong)...but if you purchase a used Toyota, I believe you get access to the entire vehicle service history since...I think 2004 onwards.

rolla-XRS that is so good to know that there is something like that in Canada so people can stay away from cars that has been serviced too many times due to manufacturing or assembly defects. imagining a good looking nice 09 toyota corolla that has so many defects in the past and the owner would sell it to you as if it is in A-1 condition.

US, too. My '05 Tacoma was serviced at dealers in the valley religiously. Full 3-page report on everything from oil changes to transfer-case-seal leaking repairs (happened after I used 4wd for the first time when I got it).

So, in Canada, the program implemented in '04?

so is it just right to say that an 09 corolla without manufacturing/assembly defect repairs should sell higher than those 09 corollas that has been serviced in and out of the dealership due to defects?

It's a roll of the dice no matter what you do.

I figure that if I buy new cars with a warranty I have a better chance of not having issues that cost me money (and time?).

I also feel that a manufacturer will stick by their cars because they want to maintain a good reputation to keep or enlarge their share of a global market.

A used car dealer only cares about selling the car that they have on a local level.

BTW Didn't we all buy new 09's?

Providing that your car is serviced at the dealership, they're able to provide you with a full history report on your car.

Honda did that for us when we bought our used Accord, full history report attached.
