Good place to put a GPS mount?

Just got an 09 Corolla and I'm looking for a good place to put a GPS mount...The windshield is too far away to reach the GPS easily, and the suction cup can't mount onto the dash. Where do you guys put your GPS mounts?

I mounted mine on the windshield just under the rear view mirror.

Not in the way and you can reach it.

Must be low on the windsheld. Mine is higher up and is the same reach as my rear view mirror.

But what do you do with your cable ? You let hit hang in the middle of the windshield, or you use the gps on batteries?

I just let it hang. Excess wire is tucked into dash centre auxilliary box.
I leave the bracket on the windshield but the unit is only mounted when I have a need to use it.

I have mine right by the driver's door. It's easy to touch when necessary (even though you aren't suppose to do that while driving) and my cord is not hanging in the way. When not in use I plunk it in my glove compartment and the cord is over the steering wheel out of the way and hangs down just below the signal switch. Sometimes a bit longer depending on if i move it up. When I have it plugged in yes the cord hangs over a bit, but it's still over the steering wheel out of my foot area and it's neater than hanging from above in my opinion.

I'm also left handed so having it to the left of me makes perfect sense. In my previous car I had it in the middle, but the windshield was much closer than in this one, I noticed that right away.
