2009 or 2010 Corolla CE?

Hey guys, I just test drove a 2009 Corolla CE today loved it. Decided I wanted to buy one this weekend coming up, But I have a few questions for anybody that knows alot about these vehicles. The 2009's are 650 bucks cheaper than the 2010's and I was just wondering which one should I get!? Can anybody tell me the differences between the two? I have the new 2010 brochures here and it says I can get a push-start button, I don't believe I seen that on the 2009 CE, or maybe it was only available on the S or SRX. But if anybody knows for sure what the changes are could you let me know it would be a great help to me! thx :p

Well the push button start is only availabe with the LE model which is more expensive than the Ce, different interior too. The 2010 is about $1000 more than the 2009 with the enhanced conv. package, such as cruise, PW, etc, but it now has standard Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control which could be beneficial if you winter drive. However dealers are very willing to deal right now on 2009 leftovers as well as 0% financing for 36 months. A 2009 will end up costing you less than a 2010, by as much as 1000 bucks. I would personally go with a 2010 to get VSC and TC but money is money and a 2009 could be a much better deal for you.

Perfect thanks Londonguy, this is exactly what I was looking for. I do live in Edmonton Alberta, Canada. In Dec/Jan snow can be a problem so for the little bit extra the VSC and TC are probobly worth it, as well I see in this forum the 09 has some steering/starting/misc problems. Maybe the 010 will be fixed who knows, I like the 09 so I think Ill pay the premium and get the 010.

One more thing... does the 010 now include Blue Tooth technology in the Enhanced Conv. package? Im on the Canadian site pricing my 2010 Toyota Corolla, and in the 09 version, I can select Blue Tooth technology for like 450 bucks, and on the 2010 I cant, so I'm assuming its already included, or isn't available... Can anybody clear that up?

ericgu22 is correct about 2009 corollas. but if price and interest rate is your main concern then 2010 corollas is not a good choice.

call any toyota dealer nearest you and clarify that bluetooth thing. i wanted that too when i bought my 09 corolla but my dealer made sure to me that the bluetooth controls won't be installed on the right spoke of the steering wheel so i waived on the installation. i could buy a $99 bluetooth device from pepboys or autozone without steering wheel controls. $450 or $500 for a toyata bluetooth is way too much.

Agreed :p, If the controls were on the steering wheel it would definatly make me buy the 2010 over the 2009. For the TC, VSA, Blue Tooth, the 1000 extra would be a good investment for me.

I think you're making a really good choice in cars, whether you go 09 or 10. Even with the 2010 price increase this car comes in cheaper than just about every car in its class, even the Ford Focus is about the same price and a great choice if you want your $20000 car to be worth $8500 on a trade in in a year. Mazda 3 or Honda Civic are nice but substantially more expensive than a similarly equipped Corolla. It might not be as flashy but it gets you there. To me it's a no brainer, great little car. Have had a lot of compliments and other people interested in getting one.

That is exactly what I am thinking :p. Corolla has the best re-sale value of any can in its class, I was considering the Yaris/Venza, but I test drove the Yaris and then I test drove the Corolla, and the Corolla was such a big improvement for like $1500 extra, so I decided to move up to the Corolla. The reason I am sticking with Toyota and not even Looking at Ford/Nissan/Chev/Honda is because Toyota has way better resale value than them all, Honda Civic is a great car too, but its a little bit more expensive, and the resale isnt EXACTLY as good at Toyota.

I know in my area here in Ontario the dealers will come down about $600 off MSRP and will throw in a hood deflector or all weather mats. I know because my neighbour just ordered a 2010. A year ago I was hard pressed for them to come down $400 so you can save a little more than last year. Ask for $800 off then settle for $600 with a goodie or two tossed in. They will say Yes or walk away and they will call you back.

Is this what your neighbor did for the 2010? or what you did for the 2009? Think they would give me 800 off or 600 with floor mats or something on the 2010? That would be pretty sweet lol

I got $400, my neighbour got $600 plus the hood deflector. They only wanted to give her $400 but I went with her and insisted on $600. They said no initially then we said our farewells and they called us back as we were outside. Other dealers were willing to match that as well, via internet quotes. Most were in the 5 or 6 hundred range with a hood deflector that's 150 installed so thats like 750 off which is a hell of a lot better than a year ago. I recommended the deflector to her because I didnt get one and have a lot of chips on the front of my hood. So for sure you should be able to get 600 and an accessory. If not the first dealer another one for sure.

Perfect I keep that number in mind and use it to my advantage haha, The salesman offered me Remote Start ($793.50 Canadian Dollars according to the Canadian Toyota Website) and free oil changes and 20 point vehicle inspection for 7 years. He offered me this on the 2009, but I suspect it was because there 2010's are coming in the next week or two I believe. So I am going to try and convince them to give me the same deal on the 2010, or Ill go to one of the other 5 dealerships in the city.

Oh and I forgot to mention the most important part. Many dealers especially Toyota insist on window etching fees ranging from 2-3 hundred bucks. Refuse this to no end. They will go on about it and say it's on every car. Say not yours and threaten to walk. I had to on this last year. It is illegal to make you take it despite dealership policies. That kills any discount you may get and don't take it. Even if the car is already etched, make them absorb it.

What Is a window etching fee? Just so I am aware of it when I go to purchase the vehicle.
