Driver's airbag removal

Does anybody knows how to remove driver's airbag? I probably have to turn it off but I don't know the procedure in this car ...

Thanks a lot.

+1, unless you are in fact putting a new (racing) wheel on.

In that case, proceed.

I didn't express myself correctly, I'd like to paint it... So I don't want to remove the airbag forever I just want to disassemble it.

I think I just have to disconect the battery and then I can disconect those 2 wires that are conected to the airbag without problems ... I don't I just want to confirm.

In Canada, it is even against the law to tamper or modify the air bag. Even if it is not against the law, it may explode in your face when you are removing it, or it may not be re-installed properly.

I also have a 2003 Civic and when I decided to cover the steering wheel with leather I had to do that, it's not a big deal, you just have to know the procedure.

If I had the service manual my problem would be solved. Actually, I found the procedure in the Corolla 2004's service manual, but I don't know if it is the same to 2009.

I will ask the guy who cover the steering wheel with leather how to do that.

its not againts the law in BC to do it ... you just have to let your insurance company know that you have.
