Maintenence Reqd light

at 5000 miles, the maintenence light came on. I already got the oil change and now im trying to reset and turn the light off. How do u do it?

ive read directions and tried everything, but the light stays on.

am i doing something wrong? basically, im trying to do the same steps for the older corollas:

change the display to overall mileage, turn off, hold the button, then turn on and keep holding.

doesnt seem to work

The older Corollas didn't have the light; maybe you mean the more recent gen 9 Corollas (the first 2003s didn't have them). Take the car to your dealer then, if it isn't going off.

digits... are you aware that when ever the maintenance required light turns on it means that there is something going wrong? if you bring your car to the dealer they will download the code and find out what is wrong with your car. maintenance required light does not only mean an oil change. dont you want to know what is going on with your car that is why the light came on?

oh well....

Canadian cars are not equipped with the light the original poster is speaking of, so you've never had to deal with it. You're talking about the check engine light (CEL). The maintenance light is just a reminder light that an oil change is needed, It is NOT the check engine light.

The reset instructions are on page 315 of the owners manual. Set the odometer/trip meter to Trip meter A, turn off the car. Press and hold the odometer reset button and turn the car back on, continue holding the button until 000000 is displayed. Light should now be reset.

^ as above...Turn the key to 'on' but don't start it. The bars will disappear one by one until it goes to zero and you're done.
