Smile Modulite for trailer wiring

I want to purchase a hitch for my 2010 corolla S and they have two lighting options at e-trailer.com for direct plug into the existing wiring harness'. One uses a modulite box that you have to run 12 volt power supply to and the other option doesn't. My trailer only has two marker lights and then one 1157 bulb in each brake/tailight, total of 4 bulbs. Have any of you used either option and are there any advantages to one or the other. Cost is within $10 of each other. Thanks fellas!

I just went through the same debate and posted a summary on the wiring install I did.

Called etrailer.com and they said the Curt would work but would not last as long as the separately powered one.

Called the mfg of the other one (I had already bought), they are the company that owns Reese etc. They said that without the power wire I would get lamp out warnings....not such a bad thing I guess.

I figured that with a boat the separate power feed/fuse was better.

Get the one with the wire and pay someone to route it if you can get quality work inexpensively or do it yourself. The Curt is not a bad choice for a small trailer either.
