I went to the dealer tonight (Heffner in Kitchener) and signed the paperwork & stuff. The car was delivered to them on May 4! I'll probably pick it up next Friday or so.
For now I still have the option to lease or finance. Part of me wants to lease so I don't feel tempted to mod it and invest thousands of dollars in new equipment, headlights & stuff. hehe. I'll sleep on it tonight I guess.
The only thing I'll do for now is get a tint. 20% all around.
So far my experience at Heffner Toyota has been good. A few months ago I remember going there a few times while a friend of mine had maintenance done on his Yaris. I was looking at cars in the showroom, sitting in them, etc, ... and for some reasons never did any sales reps or other employee talked to me. This was rather annoying ("Do you want to sell a car or not?"). But a few weeks ago I did find a sales rep and he was very friendly/useful. I think he gave me a good deal. Tonight, after finalizing everything with the sales rep, I met the business person to start the process and discuss extended warranty & protection. No comments on that part! Also, as I might finance the car, we discussed extended warranty and the protection package (underbody, rust). The only thing I got was $50 off the $700 protection package ... the person wouldn't even budge 1 penny on the extended warranty price. So ... that's another reason why I might just stick with the lease. I won't bother with the ECP and protection ... "screw it" ...
Lincoln Six Echo: I too have been to that dealership (Heffner in Kitchener) when I was looking around, but I didn't end up getting the car from them in the end. I noticed they didn't seem too interested in me while I was looking around in the showroom until I went up to one of the salespeople in the showroom myself and told them I was interested in getting a new car. Maybe it's just because I'm in my early 20's, and I didn't look like I was a serious buyer for some reason. Who knows. Either way, the salesperson seemed friendly and was very helpful in answering my questions, but I ended up getting a better deal elsewhere at the time.
As for leasing vs. financing, consider your options carefully, depending on what works best for you. The one thing I really like about leasing is it comes with automatic gap coverage in the unfortunate event that your car gets totalled. This means you're never left owing more on your car than you get paid out from insurance.
But nevertheless, congrats on your choice! I have the 2009 Magnetic Gray Metallic S, and I'm very happy with it.
Congrats. The Magnetic Grey is certainly sharp. Just curious what are you getting for $700? At my dealer they wanted twice that for full rust and paint protection, so I passed. $700 seems pretty good for both.
Corolla S model really needs to be dropped to look good!!!!
Yeah. The space between the tires and the body is like 4''
I'll see. It's not that expensive...

On the "Protect your investments" flyer, on the last page there's the options. $700 includes the first 2 ... "Body Panels" and "Underbody Protection". All the options together (these 2, paint protection, upholstery, etc.) for $1199. I'm still leaning toward leasing ... so I think I'll pass. The flyer is from Sym Tech. The 2 options covered in the $700 they quoted me are included there ... http://www.sym-tech.ca/rust-protection-traditional.php

I got a XRS... but it bothers me why u say that??? Overall inst the XRS better than the S model??
Like many here, they got the S because of the mileage. When gas prices are this high, I think I should've went with economy over performance, of which there is only a little with the XRS over the 1.8 models. The 9th Gen XRS was something else, but the engine we have in our car (much like the Scion tC) is disappointing. For my driving, which is mostly city, I doubt that extra horsepower is needed. An S would be fine. I would've love for the Corolla to be a car for the twisties, but it just isn't.
By getting the XRS, it's nice that we already have rims and a front strut bar; also, rear disc brakes is definitely an enthusiast plus...however, if I had to do it again, I would order a stripped down S with steelies and no spoiler. I don't see myself wanting to soup it up that much because it'll still be slow.
same as me and my wife. we go out of the city once in a blue moon. so we both agreed to have the 1.8L S. she loves the 09 corolla more than i do because of fuel savings over our 1996 honda accord which is like CAD$20 every 4 days. right now our CAD$20 last for 12 days or more.

Yea I never thought about the mileage part... but just to be in the same thought, the XRS is the much better model in terms of the exterior and interior amenities...
